Amelia Harington was dressed elegantly as she waited in the cafe. She was sitting at a table by the window.
Franklin Moore walked in and sat across her. He came clean with his speculation, "Auntie Harington, why did you do this?"
"I don't know what you're talking about."
Amelia picked up the cup of coffee in front of her and took a sip at it, all while keeping her lips in an elegant curve.
"You asked for me to look for Coralie and arranged for the reporters to standby at the door for the photos, didn't you?"
Franklin liked Valerie Rae in the past, so he was more or less familiar with Amelia's character.
She was definitely the one pulling the strings behind this.
"Franklin, don't spew any nonsense. Show me the evidence. Besides, this matter has not affected anything, has it?"
Amelia looked at Franklin and weighed her words calmly.
She knew when to draw the line. Coralie's face was censored even though the photos were taken. Only those who were close to Coralie could recognize her in the pictures. Otherwise, it would be impossible for anyone to tell that that was Coralie.
And the only person who could tell was none other than Skylar Holland.
In other words, the only audience whom Amelia was intending to appeal to with the pictures was Skylar alone.
Franklin looked at Amelia and said, "I really didn't expect that the dignified Madam of the Rae family would stoop so low for her own daughter. I'm surprised."
In fact, Franklin knew that he couldn't win against Amelia.
It was just that he couldn't bear to sit back and endure everything in silence.
Even though he was not the one being targeted in the incident, but he had suffered collateral damage indirectly because of it. The feeling of being used that angered him more.
"Franklin. I don't think that you have the right to blame me on this matter. Yes, I did ask for you to look for Coralie, but I didn't say anything about taking her to the hotel, did I?"
Franklin was rendered speechless.
He suddenly regretted that he had come to look for Amelia.
She was much more experienced in life.
"She was drunk and she eventually fell asleep. I don't even know where Skylar's house is. If I didn't take her to the hotel, should I have taken her to my home?"
Franklin was anxious. Although he had a lot of women in the past, he had never stoop so low.
Amelia's words were definitely an insult to him!
He was so angry that he was about to dash out from the place.
Amelia saw that Franklin was leaving and she was prompted to confess her motives, "Franklin. Why don't we make a deal? I could see that you no longer have any feelings for Valerie anymore. Why don't you find your way into Coralie's bed and send the photos to Skylar? As long as Skylar and Coralie go their own ways, won't you have a chance then?"
Franklin paused and looked at Amelia in front of him. She was well over 50 years old, yet she was still graceful and sophisticated. Her expression was elegant, but he didn't expect the one underneath her facade to be so vicious. What she said was completely inconsistent with how she appeared to be.
"I'm different from your daughter. I'll never degrade myself to get one woman."
Franklin then got up and left.
It had suddenly dawned upon him that the people in Valerie's family were such master of schemes. Even back then, the young Valerie had taken advantage of him.
Valerie came to him as soon as she got into a car accident. She wanted him to take the blame for her. When he refused, she begged him not to tell others about the incident and even offered herself to him.
It was also the day when Franklin found that Valerie was completely disgusting.
......
Coralie was roaming downstairs because she knew that it was implausible to just walk past the tight security. Just as she was about to give up, she saw a tall man walking out of the bright hall. He was wearing a dark casual suit, his hair was slightly disheveled and slippers were flapping on his feet...
She recognized the man at once.
She could still identify him even with only the outline of his physique.
Coralie was brimming with excitement. Half a month had passed since she last saw him. She really wanted to tell Skylar how much she missed him, so much that she couldn't fall asleep.
Skylar sauntered towards Coralie and looked at her with his black eyes. There was no expression on his handsome face. He was so cold that snow could have splattered from his face at any moment.
Seeing how cold he looked, Coralie suppressed her turbulent emotions in an instant. Her yearning for him was contained and stored away.
She said timidly, "Skylar... I..."
Skylar looked at Coralie as he raised her delicate chin with his big palm. He parted his thin lips slightly, "What do you have to say? Are you here to tell me that you have slept with another man?"
"I didn't!"
Coralie had been reeling in worry when she thought about the possibility of Skylar misunderstanding her. Now that the man was standing in front of her, her worries turned out to be warranted.
"Didn't you? All the people in A City saw that my wife in disheveled clothes and standing behind Franklin in a private room. Even he was wearing a bathrobe. Tell me, was the video recorded before or after you two had sex?"
Skylar looked at Coralie as though his eyes were going to burst into flames of anger.
He kept pinching at her chin with his fingers as though he was going to crush her delicate chin with his fury.
"No, I didn't. I admit that I was too sad, so I went for a drink. Then, Franklin came to look for me. Seeing that I was drunk, he took me.."
"Took you to the hotel, right?" Skylar chimed in coldly, "Coralie, I know very well about your alcohol tolerance. How could you be so sure that nothing had happened between you and him? Don't you know that you would pass out as soon as you're drunk?"
