"Who did you meet?" Skylar asked.
Skylar knew that there was only one photo in his study room, the one with him and Coralie in it.
"It should be her, right? Although there are some slight differences, I'm sure she's that person. I thought she was quite beautiful at that time."
As Timothy blabbered, he did not notice that Skylar was standing behind him, looking at the photo.
"Are you sure it's her?"
Skylar's voice suddenly came from Timothy's back and took him by surprise.
He looked back at Skylar and nodded. He continued, "Yes, at that time, she was harassed by a drunk man. I was the hero who saved her."
It had never occurred to Timothy that the beauty he saved was Coralie.
Skylar looked at him, raised his hand, and took the photo from the bookcase. Then he turned around and left.
"Where are you going?" Timothy asked.
"To the club, and you, come with me."
Skylar dashed away, without looking back.
Timothy quickly put down the coffee and strode after Skylar.
Skylar raced to the club in his car. When they were about to arrive at the club, he said to Timothy, "The person in the photo is my ex-wife."
"Who?" Timothy asked.
"Coralie."
Skylar spat out the name. The name was his taboo in the past few years. No one would mention it, and no one would dare to mention it.
"No way! Did I see her ghost that day?"
Timothy was scared out of his wits when he heard the name.
"Why didn't you tell me when you saw her that day?"
Skylar was driving the car while he complained at him.
"I didn't know who she was!"
Timothy felt wronged.
When the car arrived at the club, Skylar dashed straight in with the photo. At this time, Marian was greeting guests. She saw Skylar pushing the door open and coming in and she was about to greet him when she found that his expression was strange and with a murderous intent surrounding him.
After thinking for a while, Marian walked over and mumbled, "President Holland."
Skylar put the photo on the bar counter and glanced around. He couldn't find Coralie, so he asked, "Get me this lady."
As he spoke, he pointed at Coralie in the photo.
Marian looked at the photo and recognized Coralie at a glance, but she remembered that Xenia Lowell had cautioned her to keep it a secret. Xenia was the daughter of the top company in the city, and Skylar was the most powerful person in A City, the president of Skyton Corporation. She didn't want to offend either of them.
She took a few glances at the photo and said to Skylar naturally, "President Holland, we don't have such a lady here!"
"Don't pretend. I met her here that day."
Hearing what Marian said, Timothy defended himself.
If he didn't do so, he would become the one who was lying!
"It's true. Mr. Young, you are our VIP guest here. No one has the nerve to lie to you and President Holland, right?"
Marian looked innocent and tried to butter them up.
"On that day, you and a waiter helped me into the room, right?"
Skylar knew that Marian was an experienced person. Otherwise, she would not be the manager here.
"Yes, yes." Marian was afraid that Skylar would find out some clues, so she quickly called the waiter next to her and said, "Call Vivian here."
Skylar and Timothy looked at each other in dismay.
"Impossible."
The resolution in Skylar's word was inviolable.
Coralie's death was a mysterious one that raised many questions. She went to the dam for no reason and roamed around for a while. There were so many spots without security cameras, but she jumped into the water at a spot where there was one.
Before she died, she told Wayne that she would come back. There were too many things that were left unsolved.
Over the years, Skylar had also suspected that Coralie had not died at all, but he had checked the entry and exit records of the country and tracked various other records. He couldn't find any trace of Coralie.
If she was still alive in this world, she would have to spend money, to see a doctor, and it inevitably left her trace behind.
However, even when Skylar had hired William to keep track of her tirelessly, he still couldn't find any signs of Coralie.
......
Skylar went to work the next day and called Jayson to his office when he could finally take a breather.
Jayson was the only person who raised doubts and stated the probability that Coralie might not have died and was hiding somewhere else.
Skylar told Jayson about his encounter.
However, after listening to it, Jayson said, "Maybe...this is a coincidence?"
Jayson said the words two years ago just to inject Skylar with a reason to keep living. Unexpectedly, after more than two years, Skylar was still keeping in mind what he had said.
"It can't be a coincidence. I've been drunk so many times, and they've always sent me women. I've never felt anything for them. Why only that day..."
Skylar refused to admit it.
In his heart, he had never believed that he would harbor feelings for a woman who was not Coralie and even had s*x with her.
"Then... perhaps Miss Chariott manifested herself that day?"
Jayson had used up all the other ways to convince Skylar.
In his opinion, Coralie was dead, and Skylar's persistence was just because he couldn't get over it.
