When in the emergency room, Theo started to act like a drama queen, holding the doctor’s leg and pleading, “Please save my father. I will pay whatever it takes to save my father.” In fact, he had wished Samuel would die in no time so that he would be in charge of the Griffith’s. Darian copied his brother and the corridor was filled with their crying. To be precise, their yelling.
Seeing no tears on Theo and Darian’s faces, the doctor said angrily, “I’m going to save your father. Why are you holding me up?”
Theo was busted. He then let go of his leg and said with an awkward smile, “I’m sorry. Please go ahead.”
Theo and Darian were unhappy when Maximilian and Victoria arrived because for one thing, they were the most threatening among the Griffiths and for another, they were worried that Maximilian and Victoria would ruin their plan.
“How’s Grandpa?” asked Victoria.
Theo and Darian sneered at her, “Listen who’s talking. Grandpa is in hospital all because of you.”
Victoria was first confused but more angry at their groundless accusation. She couldn’t understand her two uncles would turn against her at such a critical time.
“Right on. It’s all because of you. Otherwise, my grandpa wouldn’t have been so seriously ill.”
“Grandpa already suffers from high blood pressure. If you hadn’t been going against him these years, he wouldn’t have been so ill.”
“If Grandpa passes away, you two are to blame.”
Theo had bought off the younger generation of the Griffiths to blame Victoria as per his instruction.
Hearing this, Victoria looked pale. It rubbed Iris the wrong way so she stood up for Victoria, “You are way out of line. It’s an accident that Grandpa suddenly fell ill because of the high blood pressure. Plus, Grandpa fell ill after Uncle Theo and Uncle Darian visited him.”
Theo and Darian were struck dumb. They didn’t expect that Iris would stand up for Victoria and mentioned them particularly. They were busted and turned to threaten Iris, “Nonsense. It has nothing to do with us.”
Iris sneered, “I can hardly agree with that. It must have something to do with you.”
Seeing this, those Griffiths who were neutral smell a rat. They looked at Theo and Darian subconsciously and asked, “What did you say to Samuel? Why was he so angry?”
Theo said unhappily, “Dad is never angry with me. This is nonsense.”
On a second thought, they thought that Theo had got a point there as it was the truth. They didn’t ask Theo and Darian more assuming that it was just a coincidence.
Theo felt relieved. To his surprise, Iris would have turned against him. Iris didn’t give a damn. She had decided to take sides with Victoria.
Seeing how sincere Victoria was, the doctor continued, “Not unless Doctor Damen Doyle comes to help. Unfortunately, Doctor Damen is going to other city today. I’m afraid he won’t make it in time. Frankly speaking, even if he can make it, you won’t be able to ask him for help. Just forget it.”
Victoria was frustrated to hear that and sat back on her seat. Maximilian asked frowning, “How much time are we left with?”
“Um... About half an hour. You can have a try,” said the doctor. He told them because of humanitarianism. He also hoped that they could make it. But it was not up to him.
“What? Alas!” Theo was thrilled but still managed to be sad.
Maximilian didn’t want Victoria to be sad. Since there’s still a silver lining, he would fight for it. Besides, Samuel was still the one in charge. If he died, things would become in a mess. Given the current situation, he’d better let sleeping dogs lie. He called Damen when he pretended to go to the rest room. If Damen had already taken off, he wouldn’t be able to make it either. And it was all up to Damen if he agreed to help or not. Maximilian wouldn’t force him. When he answered Maximilian’s call and learned about what had happened, Damen canceled his flight and rushed to the hospital.
Theo and his company were waiting to see Samuel for the last time. Unexpectedly, Samuel talked with Victoria first.
“Grandpa!” Suddenly, tears ran down on Victoria’s cheeks.
“Why are you crying? I’m most proud of you among the Griffiths,” said Samuel with a smile.
