Carlisle waved his hand dismissively and exchanged a few more pleasantries with Hugh. Then, he stepped inside the room.
"Katrina, I'm here to take you home." Carlisle walked up to her, taking her hand as if she had been misbehaving. He said gently, "Now that you've thrown your tantrum, you should be feeling calmer, right? We've already caused the police enough trouble tonight, so let's just go home."
She was throwing a tantrum?
Katrina looked up at him. After everything she had done tonight, did he still think she was just throwing a fit?
Or was he keeping up this act of a considerate and gentle husband because there were outsiders? Was it all because he was afraid tonight's events might tarnish his reputation?
Katrina scoffed and shook his hand away. "Don't pretend to be so innocent. If you hadn't ordered your men to abduct me, none of this would have happened!"
"What abduction?" Carlisle frowned, feigning confusion. "I only told them to bring you back. Did they overstep? Just calm down first. I'll deal with them when we get home."
"Drop the act!" Katrina sneered. "If it weren't for your orders, would they dare treat me like that? Carlisle Zachman, you knew exactly what you were doing.
"If you want to lock me up and control me, let me tell you—I won't give in like that. Don't even think about it!"
Carlisle's expression darkened, and he was barely able to constrain his displeasure.
"How could you think that way? We're husband and wife," he said through gritted teeth, his voice low with a hint of warning.
Katrina could hear the threat in his tone. He was worried about what she might say in front of outsiders and damage his reputation. But what did she have to worry about?
