Your Love Is My Weapon novel Chapter 319

Jacob also sensed something unusual. He turned to look at Xavier.

Xavier signaled Jacob to lead the way by nodding his head slightly.

Seeing those tall figures leaving, the old man sighed and said to himself, "What trouble has the family caused this time?"

Otherwise, why would the two men visit them?

People in the room made the small space even more crowded. Grover's head was pressed down on the table by two hoodlums. In front of him stood a tall man with a scar on his right eyebrow, which was long enough to reach the corner of his right eye. He spoke with the flesh on his big face trembling. "Give me the money, or I'll chop off his hands and ruin his face."

Janet stood in the corner behind the door. She had seen things like this so many times over the years and had compromised every single time. She really didn't want to get involved this time.

She was too tired. There was nothing she could do about it.

"Do what you want. Maybe it's better if you cut off his hands since he obviously can't control them."

"Janet, what are you talking about? He's your brother. How can you give up on him?" Ellen rushed to her and grabbed her collar. "You can save him! You can get the money, can't you? Go get it now!"

Janet stared at her mother in despair, who was now asking her for money emotionally with a flushed face. "Mom, how much money have I paid back for Grover over the years..."

"He's your brother," Ellen repeated.

How many times had Janet heard this sentence again?

All these years, Ellen had always used this excuse to force her to pay the debt for Grover. You couldn't leave him alone because he was your brother. You had to listen to me because I was your mother who had given birth to you after a ten-month pregnancy. Janet had long been tired of hearing those words over and over.

"I don't have any money." Janet didn't want to argue with them anymore because the only child her mother cared about was her son, Grover.

Her daughter meant nothing to her.

"How can you have no money? Aren't you carrying Jasper's baby? Ask the Clintons to give the money!" Ellen held Janet's hand tightly. "Didn't you get a lot of money last time? You can do it again."

Janet allowed Ellen to hold her. Her mother's nails were pinched into the back of her hand, but she couldn't feel the pain.

"Sister, you have to save me! I promise I won't gamble anymore! I won't dare to!" Grover begged Janet with his eyes.

"How many times have you promised me that?" Janet couldn't be more disappointed. "Have you ever changed?"

Suddenly, she lost all control of her emotions, throwing everything she could get at Grover. "You never keep your words! I won't save you! Die if you shall!"

"Great! Let's die together today!" Ellen grabbed a knife from the kitchen and pretended to kill herself with that.

Staring at her numbly, Janet couldn't help but smile sarcastically. "You use this trick every time. It's not going to work this time. I won't stop you."

She had thought that the money she had gotten by selling out her dignity would free her from this predicament. But Grover stole the money, lost it all, and owed even more.

She was desperate.

Grover was hopeless.

She would rather die than get trapped in this situation.

"I must have committed crimes in my previous life so that I was born in this family." This was God's punishment.

Ellen panicked. In the past, Janet would compromise as long as she threatened to commit suicide. Why didn't it work this time?

"Janet..."

Ellen tried to convince Janet in another way by changing her attitude.

Janet knew that Ellen was going to use family as an excuse as soon as she heard her speaking in a gentle tone. It was always like this when her mother was trying to force her to do something. If scoldings and threats didn't work, she would use soft words and tears. However, Janet had made up her mind. She wouldn't compromise this time no matter what.

She shook off Ellen's hand and ran out of the room with her hand covering her lips. To her surprise, someone was standing at the door.

She wiped away her tears so that she could see who was there.
