When they left the restaurant, Arya reached out her hand and found a USB flash drive wrapped in a piece of tissue. There were two same words on the tissue.
The word was 'one'.
Arya frowned as she had no idea what these two words meant.
"Mommy, what are you thinking about?"
Ryan looked at Arya, who got lost in thought.
Arya put that into her bag. She didn't know what it meant. Therefore, she dared not to make any decision.
She continued the dinner with Ryan. But her son lost his appetite and refused to eat more after only two bites. He said, "Mommy, let's get back home."
Arya looked at him and said, "You should eat more."
"I'm full." Ryan blinked.
Arya had no choice but took him out of the restaurant. When they walked to the door, Ryan held Arya's hand and said, "Mommy, shall we take a walk?"
Arya agreed.
At this moment, Arya would agree to any request he made.
While waiting for Xavier, she would spend the most time with her two children and replace him to manage the company.
The night sky was dark, dotted with stars.
Arya held Ryan's little hand and asked him, "Ryan, are you used to staying in the kindergarten?"
Ryan thought for a moment, "It's okay."
She turned to look at him, "What do you mean by it's okay?"
"I mean it's neither good nor bad," Ryan said faintly.
Then Arya looked at him with a smile.
"Mom, Grandma and Aunt said my dad was on a business trip. Is it a lie?" Ryan looked at his mother.
Although it was a question, he said it certainly. Before Arya could explain, he continued, "If dad was just on a business trip, grandma wouldn't have cried so hard and you wouldn't have locked yourself in your bedroom for a month without saying one word. I know you're not telling me the truth because you're afraid that I'll be sad. But mommy, I've been a grown-up."
Arya stopped and squatted down to hold Ryan's shoulders. She was surprised and relieved to hear what he said. Then she reached out to hug him tightly.
"Mommy, don't be sad. My sister and I will always be with you."
Arya didn't want to cry in front of Ryan, but she just felt that she cannot help herself.
But Ryan wiped her tears and told her, "Mommy, mommy, you still have me and my sister."
Ryan held her head and said, "I will study hard to be a useful person in the future to protect mommy and sister."
Arya was moved by this little man and kissed his face.
They walked for a while before Arya took Ryan back home.
Ramona was looked after well by Daisy and Bridget. And she was sleeping when Arya came back.
After walking into the study, Arya took out the USB flash drive in her bag and tried to figure out the meaning of these two words. But she failed to figure it out.
Then she called Jacob to ask him to come over.
After Arya put down the phone, the study door was pushed open. It was Mr. Jones.
The old residence was home to a limited number of rooms with only one study. It was Mr. Jones that spent a little time in the study when Xavier had been here.
Looking at Mr. Jones, Arya stood up from his chair and said, "Dad..."
Mr. Jones shook his hand and asked her to sit down, "I come here just for a book."
His voice used to be sonorous, but it sounded weak at this moment.
But Arya didn't sit down. When Mr. Jones came over to take the book, he reached out to hold her shoulder unconsciously hard, as if he was struggling in his mind. But in the end, he just said, "Have a rest on time. Don't be too late."
