At this thought, a flash of coldness appeared in his eyes. He believed she was definitely playing hard to get.
Realizing this, he quickly pulled himself together, turned his attention back to the bride in front of him, and solemnly said each word clearly.
“Emily, whether poor or rich, whether in health or sickness, I am willing to marry you as my wife and will never leave you.”
His heartfelt confession made Emily’s eyes suddenly well up with tears. She responded to him with deep affection and kissed him passionately.
The wedding went exceptionally smoothly.
None of the things Daniel had worried about happened. The expected wedding–crashing event didn’t occur, and his bride seemed to be doing perfectly well without any discomfort.
Even his friends praised him, saying he seemed more careful and serious about the wedding than he ever had been.
But only Daniel knew that, in truth, he hadn’t been serious about this wedding at all.
A figure kept appearing in his mind, disturbing his thoughts.
While Emily went to her room to rest, Daniel had the butler bring him his phone.
When he saw the bright red exclamation mark in the chat box, Daniel’s body stiffened in place.
Over the years, no matter how much Sarah had caused trouble, she had never blocked him.
Daniel rubbed his forehead, then casually dialed the number.
As soon as the call connected, Daniel had already prepared his words. “Sarah, you…”
“We’re sorry, the number you have dialed is currently unavailable. Please try again later…”
“Bang!”
Daniel slammed the phone down on the table in frustration.
But after all, she was Sarah’s father’s entrusted responsibility. If something really happened to her, he wouldn’t be
able to explain it to Sarah’s father.
Thinking of this, Daniel dialed another number.
“Find out which city Sarah went to. Once you know, go directly to take care of her.”
That night, after Daniel had finally gotten Emily to sleep, there was a knock on the door.
