Chapter 108
“Yes, Mr. Smith.” Hunter replied.
Hearing this, Evelyn’s Tace turned pale. Seeing Hunter stride toward her, she quickly stepped behind Brian, her voice trembling slightly as she called out, “Brian…”
Brian shielded her, his expression grew colder. “Ariana! That’s enough!”
“Mr. Lodge, what does this have to do with me? I haven’t said a word,” Ariana replied innocently, though she subtly moved closer to Victor. Her actions made Brian’s anger flare even more.
Why must it be on this occasion? Did she truly intend to embarrass him in such a public setting?
Victor’s voice cut through the tension, calm and deliberate. “Hunter, didn’t you
“Yes, sir.”
hear me?”
Hunter moved forward again. Evelyn immediately turned her plea toward Ariana. “Ms. Torrey, I know you don’t like me, but you can’t let Mr. Smith do this to me! I am Brian’s partner tonight. Do you have a problem with me, or with Brian?”
Her words clearly implied blame, accusing Ariana of deliberately refusing to stand up for Brian at this point. But Ariana wasn’t so foolish as to play into her trap. Siding with Evelyn now would mean undermining Victor’s authority, leaving her alienated from both sides. Why would she dig her own grave?
Instead, she widened her eyes in confusion and replied, “Ms. Granger, I’m afraid I don’t understand what you mean. I don’t have a problem with anyone.”

Her innocent act only added to Brian’s growing frustration, his gaze turning colder. But Victor’s status as the host left him with no room to retaliate.
Hunter reached Evelyn’s side, extending his arm in a polite yet firm gesture to escort her out. Evelyn hesitated but was left with no choice. She bit her lip, her eyes darting to Brian for support.
Brian said coldly, “Eve, if Mr. Smith is asking you to leave, then you should go.”
“Brian…”
“But next time, it won’t be so easy for him if he ever wishes to step into my territory.”
Brian’s last sentence was a pointed attempt to stand up for Evelyn. Hearing his words, Evelyn started to relax, her expression softening slightly.
This was Gleaston, after all. If Victor dared to disrespect her, Brian wouldn’t make Victor’s business ventures here easy. Evelyn was reluctant to leave, but after hearing Brian’s words, she allowed herself to be escorted out.
Before leaving, she shot a venomous glare at Ariana.
The auction is about to begin. Mr. Lodge, if you’re staying feel free to take a seat,” Victor remarked casually, guiding Ariana toward their seats.
The sight left the room in stunned silence. Who would have imagined that Ariana, once so eager to please Brian, would now be in Victor’s arms?
Brian stood rooted in place as he watched Victor and Ariana leave, his aura growing colder by the second. At his side, Emily hesitated before speaking. “Mr Lodge…”
“Take Eve home,” Brian ordered curtly.
