Chapter 11
Gwen wanted nothing more than for Ariana to get back together with Brian as soon as possible. After all, she and Igor would both benefit from Arlana’s marriage to Brian to
Ariana raised her eyebrow and smiled when she saw how anxious Gwen seemed to be. “Yes.”
“Really? That’s awesome!” Gwen exclaimed.
She continued, “I knew it! I knew that Mr. Lodge still had feelings for you. Otherwise, he’d never have asked you out on a date!”
“Ms. Lambert, I think you’re mistaken. Mr. Lodge met with one to discuss canceling the engagement.” “Then…”
Under Gwen’s shaky eyes, Ariana punctuated each word she said next. “The wedding is off.”
“What? It’s off?”
Gwen nearly fainted when she heard what Ariana said.
Igor hurried forward to hold Gwen up. Then, he yelled at Ariana, “Ariana, you’re going overboard! How could you make your own decision about canceling the engagement without talking to us? Do you even care about us?” “It’s my engagement, so of course I’m the one calling the shots. There’s no need for me to discuss it with you. “From today onward, I will be taking over the company’s operations. Ms. Lambert, since Lodge Co. has withdrawn their funding, you don’t have to worry about it anymore.”
Anyone could hear the smile in Ariana’s voice. Gwen was so mad that she could barely speak.
What on earth had happened to Arlana?
Since it was the first time Ariana ever showed her face at Torrey Co., she became the main focus of everyone’s attention at the company that day.
Ariana rarely ever went to the company. Gwen usually got the manager, John Wagner, to see to the company’s operations on a daily basis.
At that moment, John hurried up to Ariana and said, “Ms. Torrey, why did you personally come over? You can just call me up if there’s anything you need to know.”
“You’re Mr. Wagner, the manager?”
“That’s me. Ms. Torrey, how may I help you this time?”
Ariana looked at John. His looks weren’t too bad as he seemed to be almost in his 40s. He didn’t look too old for his age. However, he had a greasy look every time he smiled.
