Chapter 187
Evelyn couldn’t just sit and do nothing.
She couldn’t just watch Ariana seize Brian from her.
With that in mind, Evelyn quickly took out her phone and dialed a familiar number.
“Hello, I want you to come back to the country. I need you to help me with something!
In the evening, Brian returned to the Lodge residence.
He found only one lamp switched on in the living room, and the sound of moving furniture was coming from upstairs.
Frowning, he asked, “They’re still not done?”
Emily answered, “Ms. Torrey is quite particular. She’s alreally sent back three batches of furniture this afternoon.”
“Where is she now?”
Emily said uneasily, “She’s… probably in there giving instructions.”
‘Giving instructions? What exactly is she instructing?”
Brian’s face darkened as he headed upstairs, wanting to see what Ariana was playing at.
The moment he got to the second floor, a cloud of white dust blew right into him.
The worker immediately apologized. “Mr. Lodge, I’m so sorry. Ms. Torrey wanted the walls repainted, so…”
Brian was now covered in splotches of white powder. His expression grew even grimmer.
He walked a few steps and heard Ariana’s voice coming from the guest room. “Yes, that’s it. Move it a bit more to the left. The bed goes over here.”
She spoke while munching on an apple.
“Ariana!”
Brian’s voice came from behind her.
Ariana turned and met his stormy gaze as he stood in the doorway.
“Mr. Lodge? What a coincidence. You’re here to oversee things too?”
“Oversee?”
He was nearly laughing from anger. She had turned his entire home into a dusty mess, yet she could still say that so casually.
“Mr. Lodge, sorry if the dust is too strong.”
While she spoke, she picked up a bucket of lime powder and stepped closer to Brian.
Instinctively, he backed away.
She went on, “It’s actually pretty fun to plaster walls. Mr. Lodge, want to give it a try?”
“Ariana, get that away from me!”

Chapter 197
Brian covered his nose and mouth, eyebrows drawn tight. He refused to step one foot farther into the room.
Seeing that her objective was reached, Ariana said, “Mr. Lodge, although I didn’t want a complete renovation, I really don’t like the wall color. So, I asked the workers to de some simple repainting. I hope you don’t mind. Anyway, if you want dinner, you can go back downstairs. I saw the housekeeper making a few dishes. You only need to heat them up.”
