Ariana fell to the ground. Her arm hit a sharp rock, immediately drawing blood. 

Brian snapped, “Arianà Torrey, what did you do? Speak!” 

The pain in her arm forced a sharp gasp from Ariana, but she stubbornly met Brian’s glare. She said through clenched teeth, “What did I do? Didn’t you see everything at the hospital, Mr. Lodge? Why bother asking me again? 

“Are you still pretending to be innocent?” Brian’s tone turned cold. “You sent someone to trash Evelyn’s home didn’t you?” 

Ariana froze at his accusation. Trashed Evelyn’s home? 

“Ariana, don’t play the victim here! Yes, someone close to Evelyn may have offended you, but that has nothing to do with her! I can’t believe I’ve been blind to what a venomous woman you truly are. If I’d known, I would’ve kicked you out of Glea College long ago!! 

Ariana’s anger flared seeing Brian pin all the blame on her without a shred of evidence. 

“I didn’t do it!” she shouted. 

“Oh, you didn’t?” Brian sneered. “Do you really think I’d believe that? You’ve been jealous of Evelyn from the beginning. I thought your tricks were just some playful attempts to get my attention, but I never expected you to go so far as to target her directly!” 

His face was red with anger, and every word he spoke struck Ariana hard. 

“Brian, I’ll repeat myself one last time. I, Ariana Torrey, am not that despicable!” Ignoring the searing pain in her arm, Ariana forced a bitter laugh and continued, “I know you love Evelyn. Fine! I admit that I once liked you too! But that doesn’t make me guilty! It doesn’t mean I deserve to be the scapegoat for your love story! I’ve left. What more do you want from me?” 

She didn’t hide her emotions. And for a moment, Brian was taken aback. He hadn’t expected her to say any of this. 

For a brief moment, he glimpsed defiance, anger, and disdain in her eyes, mingled with an unyielding determination. 

By the time she finished speaking, tears threatened to fall from her eyes. 

In her past life, she had already been abandoned and treated as a scapegoat. She swore to herself that she would never endure it again. 

Her arm hurt, but Ariana remained resolute. 

Brian growled, “Ariana, actions have consequences. Whether or not you’re innocent isn’t up to me to decide.” 

What do you intend to do? You may as well say it outright. Ariana scoffed. 

“Officers, I’ll leave it to you,” Brian said indifferently. 

Two police officers, who had been waiting outside the Torrey residence, entered the scene. 

Ariana was stunned when she saw them. “Brian, you called the police on me?” 

Even as she spoke, Ariana couldn’t believe what she was saying. She knew Brian disliked her and loved Evelyn.
