Chapter 224
Richie had immediately dressed and rushed to the City Hospital as soon as he heard Brian was there. The Lodge family was the hospital’s largest investor and provided the hospital with the medical infrastructure. He couldn’t afford to offend them.
The nurse turned pale with fear after realizing the man before her was Brian.
“If you have anything to say, take it outside. Don’t disturb her rest,” Brian said coldly.
“Of course, Mr. Lodge. Right this way,” Richie said, stepping aside deferentially.
Brian walked out of the room and the nurse quickly clamped her mouth shut, saying nothing more.
Once outside the room, Richie began speaking in a fawning tone. “Mr. Lodge, allow me to introduce Dr. Cooper, the lead physician. He’s exceptionally talented. He’s young and highly accomplished…”
“Get to the point,” Brian interrupted curtly. “I want to know the extent of her injuries.”
Richie immediately turned to Dr. Cooper, who adjusted his glasses before speaking.
“Ms. Torrey’s injuries are a mix of minor and severe ones. Most of her wounds should heal within 10 to 15 days. However, the injuries to her arm and hand are much more serious. Her arm was intentionally fractured, and the wounds there have become infected.
“Additionally, her right hand was forcefully crushed, damaging the tendons and bones. It will take at least three to five months to recover, and even then, her ability to write or apply pressure with that hand might be permanently affected.”
Brian’s chest tightened. His brows furrowed as he asked, “Is there no other solution?”
Dr. Cooper hesitated before replying, “I’m sorry, Mr. Lodge. We could consult with an overseas team of specialists. With consistent rehabilitation, there’s a chance for improvement. But the process will be long and arduous.”
“I don’t care how difficult the process is–I just want her hand to recover.”
“Mr. Lodge, our hospital has long–standing collaborations with top specialists overseas. Leave it to us, and we’ll ensure the best care possible,” Richie jumped in, seizing the opportunity to impress.
“I don’t have to hear any excuses. I’m staying here tonight, and I’m taking her home tomorrow.”
“Tomorrow?”
Dr. Cooper was stunned. “Given her current condition, it’s crucial to keep her under observation in the hospital.” “The environment here isn’t good enough. I’ll have the necessary equipment moved to my house for her recovery.
Dr. Cooper and Richie exchanged awkward glances. The City Hospital was the city’s largest and most advanced medical facility. Yet, to someone like Brian, even this was deemed insufficient. The audacity of the wealthy!
After Dr. Cooper and Richie left, Brian returned to Ariana’s room.
Ariana was lying there in a half–conscious state, her brows furrowed. Her lips moved faintly as if trying to say something, but the words were too muffled. He leaned in, straining to catch her words.
As he heard that she was asking for water, he went outside to find a water dispenser without hesitation. Having never done such menial tasks before, he fumbled awkwardly with the machine. But after some effort, he managed to fill a cup and brought it back to her bedside.
