Chapter 241
Brian stepped into Evergreen Hotel. The manager quickly approached to greet him but was stopped by Emily before getting too close.
Elise was seeing Brian in person for the first time. At her family’s level, she had never had any chance to meet him.
Brian looked even more striking than in the photos. Elise felt her cheeks flush slightly.
It was no exaggeration to say that Brian’s looks were even more captivating than those of top celebrities.
“Mr. Lodge…”
Elise rose to greet him, but Brian simply took a seat opposite her.
Seeing him put on a straight face, Elise could only sit back down.
“I’m short on time, so let’s get this over with.”
Emily brought Brian a coffee. He sipped it and then gestured for the staff to bring the dishes.
Seeing that Brian showed little interest in her, Elise patiently said, “Mr. Lodge, Mrs. Lodge Senior arranged for us to meet, but I still don’t know anything about you.”
“I don’t have many likes, but there are lots of things I dislike,” Brian replied flatly. “If you’re fine with this being a business marriage, we can move on.”
Elise was stunned. “Mr. Lodge, what do you mean?”
“First, I’m never going to love you. Second, I already have someone I like. Third, you need to be ready to be nothing but a trophy wife,” Brian said bluntly.
Elise’s face flushed with anger. “You already like someone? Then why do this at all?”
“That’s how business alliances work. I assume you’ve heard the rumors about me in Gleaston. You must realize I
have no intention of marrying you.”
“You…”
Elise bit her lip. Of course, she’d heard the rumors about Brian and Evelyn, but she didn’t take them seriously.
After all, Evelyn wasn’t as beautiful as she was. Besides, any man would get tired after so many years. Men were all drawn to appearances. Elise was confident she could win Brian over.
However, Brian’s bluntness made her feel humiliated, and he couldn’t keep her composure
Brian said indifferently, “People can’t have it all. If you want status, forget about love. Ms. Quinlan, think it over before we continue.”
With that, he stood up to leave.
Elise jumped to her feet and said, “No need to think it over. Even if it’s just a business marriage, I’m willing to go through with it.”
