“Looks like you know your ex very well, Ms. Torrey,” William sald dryly.
That was an understatement.

Ariana reflected on the final years of her past life. She had spent a humiliating three years kissing up to Brian at all costs, almost worshiping him.
Every look he gave her convinced her that he was seeing her differently. Every word he said to her made her feel like he was finally warming up to her.
She’d done everything for him–from securing sponsorships for his company to taking care of Belinda on his behalf. She’d cooked for him and kept lits house for him.
She knew all of his preferences, down to the amount of time he usually spent in the shower and the toilet. She had obsessed over the smallest details.
“Just wait and see, Mr. Kingsman,” she said. “You’ll be the ultimate victor tonight.”
She downed the champagne in front of her.
The auction had already started by then. Eventually, the auctioneer got to the plot in Goldfront Bay. “Goldfront Bay land parcel, six acres on the outskirts of the city. We’ll start the bid at 300 million dollars.”

Could this really be just one of Brian’s traps?
“500 million!”
“800 million!”
“A billion dollars!”
As soon as the bidding started, everyone clamored for the land.
After all, recent rumors had claimed that the land was a valuable investment, with the potential to rise to five billion dollars in value in the future.
Seeing William hesitate, Ariana raised his paddle for him. Two billion dollars!”
William glanced at her. “You’re getting comfortable at this aren’t you? Is it because it’s not your money?”
“Of course.”
As expected, Brian raised his paddle as well. “Three billion dollars.”
The huge jump in price silenced most of the other bidders. Just then, Brian gave another buyer in the room a look The buyer called out, “3.5 billion!”
“Four billion,” William called.
The crowd began whispering to each other restlessly. Four billion dollars was a risky gamble–the rumored future

Just then, Brian raised his paddle again. “4.5 billion dollars
The air seemed to freeze.
Everyone waited for William to respond.
