“It was Dr. Finch,” Emily revealed. “He’s one of the doctors in the team of experts, and he seemed to have hit it off with Ms. Torrey right away.” 

“Hit it off?” That didn’t sound right to Brian. Did Dr. Finch barbor unholy thoughts about Ariana? 

Emily couldn’t stand it anymore. She reminded him, “Mr. Lodge, I thought you did not want to hear anything about Ms. Torrey anymore.” 

“Yeah. I don’t need to know anything about her. I’m just concerned that she might stir up trouble during my time at the company and use it against me.” He sounded indifferent and reluctant to have anything to do with Ariana. 

Emily could only grunt in agreement. 

They heard a knock on the door. Emily answered the door and found Fiona standing there in a monochrome striped dress. 

Fiona fidgeted at the door without stepping in. 

Meanwhile, Brian furrowed his brows when he saw Fiona. “Did anyone tell you to come to the office?” 

“Mr. Lodge, it was Mrs. Lodge Senior’s orders. She told me to come to the office because you have a dinner tonight. 

Fiona hung her head, flustered. 

Brian looked upset. Usually, he would show up to work events with Evelyn by his side. He had never taken any other woman as his plus–one. 

Belinda had clearly sent Fiona to the office in a ploy to replace Evelyn. 

“Brian.” Evelyn approached him in the same dress. She looked puzzled when she saw Fiona in a similar outfit. 

“And you are…?” 

Evelyn wasn’t acquainted with Fiona. Despite that, she did not feel threatened by Fiona, who was clearly trying to copy her. 

To Evelyn, Fiona was no different than Ariana–who had also tried to copy her. She never worried about Brian having feelings for women of that kind. 

“This is Fiona Piper.” Emily curtly introduced Fiona to Evelyn. 

Evelyn feigned confusion. “Oh, is she a Piper? This reminds me of the Piper family in the property business. They have a daughter too, but I don’t know her name. Is that you Fiona?” 

“I…” Fiona lowered her head and bit her lip with a nervous look. She was no daughter of the Piper family, she was just a country bumpkin. 

Still, she couldn’t freely admit to her identity in front of Evelyn. 

“No, you got the wrong person. Fiona is Ariana’s cousin,” Emily finally clarified Fiona’s origins. 

Evelyn put on a look of realization. “Oh, you’re Ariana’s cousin. Well, I couldn’t have guessed if Emily hadn’t told me. You don’t look like Ariana at all. As for your clothes…” 

Fiona explained in a hurry, “I picked this outfit from what was left in Ariana’s closet….” 

But that wasn’t the truth, as Ariana had set all her clothes on fire. 

In reality, Gwen was responsible for purchasing Fiona’s outfits.
