Chapter 297
Fiona’s face turned pate
She could fool her classmates. But William wasn’t someone she could deceive easily. If he reported her earlier
onversation to the Lodge family, she’d be finished.
“Let’s start class,” William said calmly, though his gaze lingered on Fiona, making her feel like a chill ran down her spine. It was as if someone was holding her very life in their hands–she didn’t even dare to breathe too deeply.
Throughout the lecture, Fiona could barely concentrate. The moment the bell rang, Fiona shot up from her seat almost immediately.
“Fifi, where are you going?”
Her classmates were eager to keep talking about Brian Lodge, but Fiona ignored them, chasing after William as he left the classroom.
“Mr. Kingsman!” Fiona called after him, her cheeks tinged with red.
William paused and turned slightly. “Yes?”
His demeanor was cool and as detached as ever, carrying an air of distance that made Fiona nervous.
She bit her lip, hesitant to speak. “About what we were talking about earlier during the break… Actually…”
She was unable to finish her sentence.
“That has nothing to do with me,” William interrupted flatly. It was clear had no interest in their conversation.
Fiona froze as she was stunned by his lack of concern. By the time she gathered her thoroughly, William had already walked away.
Wasn’t William on Ariana’s side? Why didn’t he interfere? Unbeknownst to her, a small, triumphant smile crept onto her lips.
This must be her lucky day.
Her mood lightened further as she remembered the upcoming graduation exams. For a spoiled, rich girl like Ariana, who has taken so much time off, she must be unable to pass the exam and was bound to get expelled. Once that happened, no one would be around to expose Fiona’s lies.
Meanwhile, at the Smith residence, Ariana stood frozen, staring at the desk in front of her.
“Do you like it?” Simon asked, walking up to the desk with a grin. “Victor specifically had Hunter prepare this for you. Look at the craftsmanship, the smooth finish–it’s practically a masterpiece!”
Ariana stepped closer, running her hand over the surface of the desk. The wood was smooth and cool to the touch. It was made from top–quality maple wood.
She hadn’t expected Victor to prepare something so exquisite for her.
“You had this prepared last minute?” she asked, glancing toward Victor, who stood by the doorway.
Furniture like this, with such exceptional quality, wasn’t something one could easily find on the market. It was practically a family heirloom.
“Hm,” Victor replied simply, his face devoid of emotion.
“Practice well,” he added coldly. “If you fail the exam in a week, I’ll chop this desk to make firewood.”

Ariana’s lips twitched.
Using maple wood as firewood? Only Victor could come up with something that extravagant.
