Chapter 323
On that day, Ariana realized she didn’t look like Evelyn at all
Ariana was just Ariana, not anyone’s stand–in.
The next morning, the private doctor William hired came to examine Ariana’s wounds. When he saw all the injuries on her body, he applied targeted treatments and reminded her of a few things, then left.
Ariana had planned to practice writing with her left hand in the apartment. But she remembered her library books were due, so she had to return them to the school library.
Julia happened to be there with Evelyn. They were studying
Everyone knew this final exam would be the hardest in years, so all the soon–to–graduate students were staying in the library day and night.
When Julia saw Ariana walk in, she stepped forward right away. “Oh, look who it is. The Torrey family’s heiress. Why are you here all alone to return books? Where’s Selena that sidekick of yours? Did she find out the Torrey family is about to go bankrupt and decide to keep her distance?”
Evelyn was the head of the student council. At Glea College, the student council president had authority equal to a teacher.
Standing behind Evelyn were all the council’s female members. Although this year’s spots for studying abroad weren’t given to Evelyn, neither were they given to Ariana.
They treated Evelyn with great respect, but it was clear they disliked Ariana, who had once seemed to imitate Evelyn.
“I bet that’s the case. Everyone knows the Torrey family is in a bad situation. People don’t want to get in trouble with Mr. Lodge.”
“Your cousin is already working as a helper at the Lodge residence. I guess her future is pretty bleak when she gets old.”
“I heard your hand is badly hurt now, Ariana. I don’t know what dirty trick you used to make Victor stand up for you and ruin Evelyn’s home. Now that Mr. Lodge has tossed you aside, you ended up in prison and got injured all over your body. Serves you right!”
Julia took the lead in hurling nasty words.
Everyone on campus knew Ariana had offended Brian, so her future would be miserable.
Glea College students often flattered the powerful while looking down on the weak. No one believed Ariana could ever rise again after offending such a big shot.
Julia remembered how Ariana had once acted arrogantly just because she was engaged to Brian, even causing Maddie to drop out. Julia hated Ariana even more.
She shoved Ariana’s shoulder. Immediately, Ariana grabbed Julia’s wrist with her left hand and held it tight.
“Ah! Let go! Ariana, let go of me!” Julia cried out in pain.
Ariana was using all her strength, nearly crushing Julia’s wrist.
Evelyn hurried forward. “Ariana, stop it! Let go right now!
