Emily had been hiding in the emergency stairwell the entire time. Only when Ariana entered her apartment did she finally step out. She cautiously approached Brian and asked, “Mr. Lodge, Ms. Torrey…”
Before she could finish, Brian turned his anger on her. “Why didn’t you inform me that Ariana moved?”
“L…” Emily was at a loss for words.
Didn’t Brian order that no one was to report anything about Ariana to him?
But faced with an enraged Brian, she had no choice but to lower her head and take the blame. “This was my negligence, Mr. Lodge. I’m sorry.”
“If this happens again, you can say goodbye to your job.” Brian sneered.
“…Yes, Mr. Lodge.” Emily nodded. “But Mr. Lodge, you ordered the principal to change tomorrow’s exam questions. What if Ms. Torrey can’t graduate because of this?”
“She only has herself to blame. She shouldn’t have taken any shortcuts.” Brian took a deep breath. “She’ll come to me if she truly wants to graduate.”
“…Understood.” Emily didn’t dare say another word.
Meanwhile, at Glea College, Fiona had been staying in the dorms for the past few days.
She left early and returned late, constantly running errands for the Lodge family. At this point, she looked less like a student and more like an unpaid housekeeper.
Her roommates, who had been waiting to see her move into the Lodge residence, were beginning to doubt her.
One of them probed, “Finals are almost over and summer break will start in another month or two. Fiona, are you staying at the Lodge residence or are you coming to my place?”
“L” Of course, Fiona wanted to move into the Lodge residence.
But Belinda hadn’t suggested that she was welcome to do so. And to make matters worse, Brian hadn’t been home much. He was either at the company or at a hotel.
It was hard to meet with him, let alone try to make him change his view of her.
Another roommate chimed, “Fiona is the Lodge family’s future daughter–in–law. Of course, she’ll be staying there, right, Fiona?”
Flona forced a smile. “…Of course.”
“But didn’t you say Mr. Lodge didn’t want to live with you because it would damage his reputation? Is Mr. Lodge looking for a cuddle buddy?” Her roommates smirked, the imaginations running wild.
Fiona blushed. Her future was set if Brian ever made a move on her.
But Fiona was frustrated that she wasn’t invited to stay with the Lodge family yet. Where would she go after Heaving her dorms?
