Chapter 380
Christopher stood frozen in place.
Why had the disciplinary committee suddenly shown up?
In the next second, Christopher turned his gaze toward Ariana.
The lead person from the disciplinary committee entered, Bolding a clipboard. He glanced at Christopher and asked, “Are you Mr. Christopher Gail, the dean of Glea College?”
“Yes, that’s me,” Christopher replied. He quickly stepped forward and politely extended his hand for a handshake.
The man ignored the gesture and said, “We’ve been told someone cheated at your college?”
“Yes, yes. The students who cheated yesterday have already been dealt with. They were all expelled,” Christopher replied.
“I’m not referring to that group,” the man answered with a stern look. “We received a signed report stating that a senior from the finance faculty, the president of the student union named Evelyn Granger, colluded with other student union members to cheat by secretly altering exam papers. Is that correct?”
“Who? Who reported that? I wasn’t informed. Why didn’t anyone tell me beforehand?” Christopher exclaimed, completely forgetting Ariana was in the room.
Ariana spoke directly. “Mr. Gail, I just informed you moments ago. Have you forgotten already?”
Christopher shifted his gaze to Ariana. He opened his moul, but couldn’t find the words to speak.
So, Ariana had already made a direct complaint to the disciplinary committee.
Christopher explained, “Our college has strict regulations on this matter, and I strongly oppose cheating. I truly had no idea about this until now. Evelyn has always been a top student at our college and served as the president of the student union. She’s been at the top of her class for years. I honestly find it hard to believe she would do something like that. But even if I don’t believe it personally I’ll still investigate it thoroughly and give the disciplinary committee an explanation.”
Christopher thought he could smooth things over.
However, the man from the disciplinary committee replied calmly, “That won’t be necessary. We already have conclusive evidence that Evelyn Granger cheated. In accordance with Glea College’s regulations, the union members involved in cheating must be dismissed and have their records permanently removed.”
Christopher was completely stunned.
Conclusive evidence? Where did that come from?
He glanced at Ariana. Had she already gathered solid evidence and submitted it to the disciplinary committee?
Christopher said, “Could I look at the so–called evidence, please? After all, the student in question is from my college. As the dean, I should at least examine the details. That can’t be against the rules, right?”
He still tried to protect Evelyn.
Ariana remained silent. She trusted the evidence she had handed over would stand on its own. Hearing Christopher’s request, the committee showed him the proof.
Christopher was stunned when he saw the crumpled and nearly shredded exam paper.
