Chapter 41
Ariana held out a hand and asked, “Where’s the phone?”
Tom held up a hand to show that he had Selena’s phone. “It’s here. I heard about you offending Ms. Granger, Ariana. I’ll return it to you if you get on your knees and apologize to her.”
“I don’t want the phone anymore, Ari! Let’s go!” Selena stepped forward to take Ariana away, but the latter had no intention of leaving.
She took a step toward Tom, enveloping him in her fragrance. It was alluring and dazed him. That was when Ariana lifted a leg and kicked him in the groin.
He howled in pain as he fell to the floor and curled up. The phone fell out of his hand.
Ariana swiftly caught it before giving him a cold look. She returned the phone to Selena and turned back to Tom, saying, “I don’t remember the Slater family being all that powerful your family’s company isn’t even publicly listed, is it?
“How did you make your way into this social circle? I remember when my father was still around a few years ago, your family wasn’t even worthy of having anything to do with mine. What gave you the courage to act like you’re a big shot before me?”
She stepped on his palm and used her heel to grind it. “Every circle has its rules. Your family can’t compare to mine, so you need to watch your words around me. Otherwise… I’ll make your family disappear from Silverport City in an instant.”
“Ouch! Let me go, Ariana! Have you lost your mind!” Tom shouted.
No one else said anything. The silence was almost scary.
None of them had seen Ariana act so ruthlessly and didn’t dare speak. Brian watched her with a deep frown. For some reason, his emotions annoyed him.
Evelyn noticed this and stood up. She said, “We’re all here to have fun, Ms. Torrey. Tom was only joking with you. This is supposed to be my birthday celebration–you don’t need to take things so far.”
“I’m the one taking things too far?” Ariana raised an eyebrow and stepped harder on Tom’s palm.
He howled. “I’ll kill you, Ariana!”
He felt like she was going to destroy his palm with how hard she was stepping on it, and his face was ashen.
Everyone could tell Ariana was making it clear she wasn’t going to back down despite Evelyn’s words. Sure enough, Evelyn’s expression darkened. “Don’t cross the line, Ariana! We’re all friends here–why do you have to make things so tense?”
“He’s the one who pissed me off first. I’m just teaching him a simple lesson.” Ariana smiled, but it didn’t reach her eyes. “If you’re upset about this, I can drag him outside before beating him up.”
“You “Evelyn started.
Seeing that she didn’t stand a chance against Ariana, Brian suddenly spoke up. “You think quite highly of yourself, Ms. Torrey.
Everyone’s eyes landed on him. He continued coldly, “I’d like to see who else in this room you’d dare to touch.”
Everyone stood up straighter when they saw that Brian was sticking up for them.
