Chapter 97
So, it was perfectly fine for men to cheat, but women were supposed to know their place and be content?
What kind of twisted logic is that?
“I’ll pretend I didn’t see what happened today, but you need to take care of it.”
Then, as if suddenly remembering something, Belinda added, “Oh, and didn’t you mention dropping out of school?”
“Yeah, I did.”
“Well, since you’ve already dropped out, there’s no point worrying about school anymore.
“As the wife of the Lodge family, you’ll still get that certificate, whether you go to school or not,” Belinda said.
“But, Mrs. Lodge Senior…”
“Just do as I say. All you need to focus on is winning Brian’s heart. Forget about everything else. Besides, you’re practically married now. It would be absurd for you to still be in school.” Belinda’s tone was commanding
Though Ariana felt a surge of dissatisfaction, she knew she had no choice but to comply.
Without Belinda’s protection, the Torrey family would be left vulnerable if Brian decided to take action against them.
Ariana’s silence was a clear sign of her agreement.
Seeing Ariana’s obedient demeanor, Belinda smiled approvingly. “Good girl. I appreciate your compliance. I heard Brian has asked you to move in with him. That’s a great start.”
Patting Ariana’s hand gently, Belinda continued, “To win a man’s heart, you’ve got to start with his stomach. And you’ve got a real advantage there–you’re an amazing cook Brian doesn’t like to eat food made by others, but as long as you keep him well–fed, he won’t be able to leave you.”
There was an underlying message in Belinda’s words.
Ariana immediately grasped her meaning. Belinda believed she and Brian had already grown intimate, which explained his invitation for her to stay.
Ariana smiled and said, “I understand, Mrs. Lodge Senior.”
“That’s good,” Belinda replied, placing a small bottle into Ariana’s hand.
“Light it before you go to bed. You’ll naturally understand its purpose.”
Ariana glanced at the small brown bottle.
It wasn’t until she had left Belinda’s residence that she finally took off the lid and inhaled deeply. A sweet, overpowering scent filled her nostrils.
It was a familiar fragrance–the same one she’d encountered in Brian’s room the last time she was there.
It seemed that Brian’s loss of control had been entirely caused by this love potion.
Belinda had sent a different driver to take Ariana back to the Lodge residence.
Recalling the incident with Zane, the new driver was incredibly cautious. He was fearful that anything he said might upset Ariana.
