Such words were not supposed to come out of Irwin's mouth, so why could he say such things now?
Natalie laughed!
She laughed because Irwin was shaking in anger.
She was laughing...!
Irwin was also furious. After all, men couldn't tolerate having what was theirs violated by anyone or anything, could they?
"There was a ghost between Cedric and Isabella! Caleb will make things clear with Yvonne. How can you compare our situations?"
It wasn't the same!
Back then, Cedric was constantly entangled with Isabella while still holding onto Natalie...!
That was the most distressing part.
The key point was that there were no such feelings between Natalie and Caleb. So, Natalie spoke in a justified manner.
It was a reckless and irresponsible story that Natalie had made up.
Irwin was really having trouble breathing from anger! He had never experienced anything like this in his life...!
These moments were usually reserved for Cedric, where Irwin would helplessly watch him endure blow after blow.
Cedric was usually the one in this state, but now...!
Natalie was throwing all these retaliations back at him!
"You..." At this moment, Irwin looked at Natalie's indifferent demeanor and really didn't know what to say to her.
After a long while, Irwin finally said, "Leave him, Nat. Don't force my hand!"
His statement was heavy and dangerous.
Natalie sensed the threat in the man's words. She looked at Irwin and said teasingly, "What if I don't?"
Nobody had spoken to Irwin like this, so Natalie was undoubtedly challenging Irwin's extremes and bottom line. When the man looked at her again, there was endless danger in his eyes.
Irwin asked, "What do you think I would do?"
What would he do? A man who could scheme against someone for ten years showed just how extreme his character could be.
"Are you threatening me?" Natalie asked.
"I don't want..."
No, he didn't want this.
He hadn't expected this situation before, nor had he anticipated that Natalie would prepare such a major "gift" for him upon her return to Simeria.
So, what was this now?
"You better stop thinking about it."
Natalie's tone was dark, and the danger within it became more evident. After a moment, she added, "If anything happens to him, I won't let you off the hook!"
"So, you're threatening me for Caleb's sake?" Irwin asked.
When he spoke, his tone was calm. However, anyone could tell what lied beneath those words.
"Yes," Natalie affirmed.
This feeling... was hurt, right?
Irwin was feeling hurt right now because of Natalie's words.
Yes! He clearly felt the pain of being torn apart inside. It was a pain he had never expected to experience.
However, Natalie was completely indifferent to him. There was no warmth or concern in her gaze for him.
There was only endless coldness.
-
Somehow, they managed to make it to Maple Peak without further incident.
"I don't live here!" Natalie stated.
"It's late, don't go back," Irwin said.
"Do I need to remind you why we're married, Irwin?" Natalie's tone was icy.
"I don't need reminding. I'm well aware," Irwin replied. There was more than restraint in his tone.
"What are you saying?"
Was he serious?
He had been saying the same thing countless times since last night.
Why couldn't she?
She didn't understand why Irwin was saying such things.
Irwin's gaze intensified as he continued staring at Natalie.
At this point, whenever the topic of Rebecca arose, there was no way they could agree on anything.
Natalie turned around. "Mr. Warren, please take me back."
With that, Natalie headed straight to the car.
When Dylan saw this, he looked at Irwin uneasily, especially when Natalie had already gotten into the car.
It was obvious he was stuck between a rock and a hard place.
When Dylan didn't follow her into the car, Natalie opened the door and got out.
"It's okay, I can walk back. I wouldn't want to inconvenience you, Mr. Warren."
With that, she started walking out of the area.
As she walked, she remarked, "When I couldn't see, nobody gave me trouble. Now that I can see, I can't even ask for help?"
Irwin's chest felt even tighter upon hearing Natalie's words. He couldn't help but stiffen.
"Dylan," Irwin called.
"Yes, sir?"
"Take her back," Irwin instructed.
He realized that regardless of what happened, Natalie would leave tonight...
Because Rebecca was here.
