Chapter 98
Alena
My hand was reaching out for my phone when I heard it ring despite still being sleepy. My eyes were closed but as soon as I could grab ahold of my phone, I squinted my eyes and tried to get a better look at who was calling me: Ana, my sister.
It took me awhile to realise that it was really
sister calling.
I began to sit up straight before tucking a few strands of hair behind my ear as I picked up the call, waiting to hear her voice on the other line. She was speaking to herself
out something she had dropped and it took her awhile to talk on the phone.
“Hello?” I said, “Ana?”
A curse was heard from the other line as she picked up her phone.
“Ana?”
“Ah, yes. Alena! Hello, can you hear me?”
“I can hear you. Is everything okay over there?”
Even though I couldn’t exactly see what she was doing but I could hear clearly. She seemed to be in the car, probably driving somewhere and her phone fell. Then, she had adjusted to connect to the car’s bluetooth–now, I could hear her voice much clearer.
“Sorry, I dropped my phone. Are you at home?”
“Yeah… I’m at home. Why
Where are you?”
“I’m on my way to your house. Actually, I’ll be arriving in like five minutes?” Her statement sounded more like a question which caused me to immediately step down from the bed. I walked towards the balcony and saw a familiar car driving in- didn’t have to ask if it was my dear sister because nobody else could be driving a hot pink Corvette CS.
“Did you say five
asked.
“Yeah until I reach your door. By the way, am I at the right place I don’t see your car anywhere but there’s a black Mustang in the driveway,” she replied.
“I’m coming dors to get you.”
“I’ll be by the door,”
We ended the call and I immediately walked towards the wardrobe to change into a pair of sweatshirt and sweatpants. I checked my face in the mirror, trying to look presentable for my sister because I hadn’t seen her in awhile–I quickly ran down the stairs and straight towards the front door, unlocking it
There she was, my dear sister standing in a pair of So Kate.
The type
of high heels I could never wear even if they forced me to. They were uncomfortable and painful to my legs if I wore more than five minutes, I couldn’t stand or walk around in the high heels but they looked perfect. I knew Ana had spent months perfecting her posture with the So Kate, it looked nice on her.
I didn’t expect to see her after so long.
Ana screamed before she went in to pull me for a hug, wrapping her arms around my body. We were ten years apart but our height weren’t much different. However, I didn’t have to remind anybody, she was standing in a pair of So Kate. So, she was way, way taller than me.

“Oh my god, I can’t believe I haven’t seen you in so long!” She exclaimed, showing no signs of letting me go soon. I returned the hug and wrapped my arms around her body, showing her how much I had missed her, too.
To my surprise, Matteo and Luca came to appear by the hallway. Both of them looked at us in surprise but as soon as they saw Ana, they seemed to relax a little bit. The scream had caught them off guard and I didn’t blame them, it caught me off guard as well.
Ana leaned back and finally let go before she turned to look at the two men.
“Come in, Ana. Let’s talk inside,” I said.
My sister smiled as she walked in, straight down the hallway and towards the kitchen.
Ever since Ana came, Luca couldn’t keep his eyes away from my sister. He had been looking at her as if he was interested but I couldn’t exactly read his mind–he was good with putting up a poker face but he was curious as well.
As for Matteo, he came by my side and went in to kiss my cheek
“I didn’t know Ana was coming over,” he said.
“I didn’t know either. She called me and said that she was already here,”
“It’s okay. I’ll order us some food. Anything you want in particular?” He asked, grabbing onto his phone in his back pocket. He was getting ready to scroll onto the application in his phone, the one he always ordered food–they had a fast service.
“Anything. I’m just really hungry,” I replied.
“Okay, baby.” He smiled, kissing my cheek one more time.
I walked down the hallway and straight to Ana, who was taking off her coat and placing it on the stool beside her. It had been) awhile since I last saw her because I knew she was busy with her school work–the whole family didn’t want to include her in with the family drama because they didn’t want her to worry.
Mama had checked up on her a few times but she was always too busy to respond.
“Do you want something to drink?” I asked, heading to the fridge
“Just water.”
I grabbed a bottle of cold water with two glasses before putting them on the kitchen island. Ana went to grab the bottle and poured us a drink while I took my time to admire my little sister; she had changed a lot as she grew up. She had gotten more beautiful, she had became a woman and sometimes, I had trouble forgetting that she was no longer a child.
“I thought you were busy with university and stuff. I didn’t know you were back,” I said.
Ana nodded, “A lot has been going on for me ever since I was enrolled, I kind of feel bad for Mama because she kept- reaching out for me and I also heard about what happened to you.”
“What happened to me?”
“Nobody told me anything and I don’t know why. It’s not some silly prank, Alena.”
I sighed deeply, taking a sip of my own drink.
“We did
want
ou to worry,” I responded.
“The miscarriage? The kidnapping? Nobody said anything to me
She
began to make her way towards me before she pulled me in for another hug, this time I couldn’t hold back the tears

from falling down my face. Mama had been there for me as I tried to heal and now, I had my sister back. We didn’t have time to spend with each other growing up because of our age gap but I knew she was always there for me.
“Alena…” She called out, rubbing onto my back.
“I’m sorry. It was unintentional to hide things from you,”
She leaned back, looking straight into my eyes. “Are you okay now?”
I nodded, “I’m doing a lot better. Way, way, better.”
“That’s really good to know. Although, I had hoped to know sooner.”
