Chapter 99
Alena
I raised an eyebrow at the question before I turned to look around, incase the subject was in the room with us but according to the cheeky smile plastered on my sister’s face, we were clear to discuss this matter.
However, we couldn’t be a hundred percent sure because men in the mafia had their own ways to eavesdrop. Luca, on the other hand, was good with torturing enemies which meant he was also good in sneaking around the house without being heard.
“You mean Luca?” I asked, my voice low.
“Oh… his name is Luca.”
“Please don’t tell me you’re interested in him,” I said.
“I’ve met him before, haven’t I?”
“Yeah, that’s him.”
She cleared her throat, “He looks a little bit different, that’s all but it wouldn’t actually be weird if there’s something going on between us, right? He’s not like blood related to Matteo at all because that would be really, really, weird.”
“No, they’re just really close. Not blood related at all,”
“Cool. It wouldn’t be weird if we hook up?”
“Ana!”
“What?” She blinked a few times, completely unaware.
“You can’t actually be serious. He’s way older than you.”
Ana and I were staring at each other. However, while she looked at me, being completely confused of the situation, I was trying my best not to drag her out of the house for having the thought–Luca was a nice man, although he was a bit weird in his own way. I just didn’t like the fact that he was also in the mafia and Ana could get herself involved in his dangerous world.
The irony was there, it was too clear to ignore but I wanted the best for my baby sister.
Alexei didn’t have a choice, he had to choose the mafia because he needed to take over Papa’s place. I wasn’t given much of a choice in my own terms but I had fought for my freedom because I wanted to decide my life. As for Ana, I didn’t want her to get involved with the mafia. She was supposed to run away if she could.
Papa was a bit lenient when it came to Ana. She had told him that she wanted to further her studies and he didn’t come up with a million excuses, he thought it was better for her to get a good education. I was actually grateful because he didn’t try to marry her off to someone in the mafia.
However, I didn’t think it was a good idea for Ana to be involved with another Russian. Papa had enough of dealing with Matteo, he was still having a hard time to like him. He was bound to lose his mind if Ana ended up being in a relationship with Luca.
“What’s wrong with older men?” Ana asked.
“Nothing, They’re fine and sexy but they’re not for you.”
“I’m not that young. I’m an adult.”

“You’re a young adult, Ana. You’re literally ten years younger than me,”
“Fine, fine. You’re such a loser.”

My eyebrows furrowed as I sighed but just as I was about to say something, Luca walked into the kitchen and headed straight to the fridge. Ana had her eyes on him the entire time, even though I was staring daggers at her–she didn’t seem to be bothered by my glares as she enjoyed her view of Luca.
The man pretended not to notice Ana’s stare but I knew he could feel them.
He grabbed a glass of water before drinking it, turning around to look at us.
Instead of looking at me and starting a conversation like he always did, he was looking at my sister. Both of his eyes were focusing onto her as if he was intrigued by her presence. I couldn’t deny the fact that my sister was beautiful and very attractive, any men were bound to lose their minds whenever they saw her but Luca didn’t bother to hide his interest, too.
Luca wasn’t just staring at Ana’s face but he had glanced down her entire body.
I cleared my throat, “I’m actually still here.”
“You are,” Luca replied.
“And that is my sister.”
“We’ve met,” he replied.
“But, we haven’t been properly introduced.” Ana added.
“That would be unnecessary,” I responded.
However, the two of them ignored me as Luca went ahead to offer his hand. Ana didn’t waste any second as she returned the handshake, purposely leaving her hand to linger as a way to show how much she was interested in him.
“Ana,” she introduced herself as she smiled, showing off her perfectly straight and white teeth.
“Luca. It’s nice to meet you, Ana.”
“It’s nice to meet you,
too.”
“Why haven’t I seen you around?”
It was unbelievable to watch these two as they had a conversation. Their conversation was simple and harmless but the way they looked at each other meant something else–Luca was leaning against the kitchen island while Ana stood there, attracting him with her smile.
“I haven’t been around,”
“Oh, where have you been?”
“Quite far from here.”
Linterrupted, “Ana’s a student. She’s still studying,”
Luca raised an eyebrow, “Oh, really? What are you studying? What’s your major?”
“Well, I’m in finance. It’s one of my biggest interest to climb up the corporate ladder,” she replied and it was genuine answer.
I knew Ana had the brains and I respected her ambition. She always wanted to thrive in accounting or finance whenever she had the chance–she was going to succeed in whatever she pursued because she was the one to give her all.

Mama and Papa always believed in her, too.
“The way you say it… Luca replied.
“Why? What’s wrong with the way I say it?”
“It’s very interesting. You make it sound attractive,”
Ana started to chuckle as Luca stared at her with a grin plastered on her face. It was hopeless to see these two flirt with each other and despite the fact that he was flirting with my sister in front of me, they were both adults. They weren’t doing anything wrong and they were free to mingle around with whoever they wanted.
