"How they learned about that?" Caiden looked distraught. He furrowed his brows, as he walked beside Khaos, out of the dungeon, while a healer was called to heal Lucas's broken bones.
It was not hard to make him confessed the moment Khaos mentioned his little brother. Of course, after the meeting in the jewelry shop, he kept his eyes on that man, because he thought he was useful, but who would have thought that he was actually spying on him.
"First it's the mercenaries and now this." Caiden looked at Khaos. "Do you think there is someone, who assumed that you are a lycan?"
"There is a rumor about that." Khaos told him briefly about the information that Lucas got about the rumor that floated around among the informant and there was someone, who wanted to dig deeper into that.
Caiden then learned who was Lucas and had this weird look on his face. "You are not
suspicious of Zuri at all? Do you trust her? Do you trust what that man said about the lycan and the rumor and all?"
Both of them walked through the garden that connected the two buildings, as the sun slowly disappeared behind the tall tower.
"She could lie, she could conspire against you."
"And to whom she worked for?"
Caiden shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know. Maybe the king, you said it yourself that the king approached her and asked her to be his eyes to spy on you. She could orchestrate everything..." Caiden's eyes widened. "And you told her about the lycan! Khaos! You are being reckless!"
Khaos gave him a side look and didn't entertain his idea. "There is really a rumor among the informant and the bounty."
"How do you know?" Caiden immediately jumped into his own conclusion, but Khaos stopped him sharply. "Is the information is trusted?"
"It's confirmed."
The bounty, the rumor and the person, who wanted more information about the lycan, though their identity was still mystery.
It started two years ago when Khaos was sent to Three Deadly Ways as a form of his punishment for killing one of the elder in River Creek pack, though the one, who had killed that man was actually Bryden, but if it were the beta, he would have been hanged.
More so, Khaos needed an excuse to be around the Great Palace too, thus the punishment was perfect. freёwebnoѵel.com
"Someone must have seen you when you were in lycan form near the Great Palace," Caiden said with distress.
There was a high possibility for that, because Khaos indeed had shifted into his beast a few times during his 'punishment'.
"We need to figure out, who is that person, who wanted to dig into the old dynasty." Caiden cracked his knuckles, his habit whenever he was getting anxious. "No wonder, you have been encountered a few mercenaries lately."
Caiden knew about Khaos and Bryden's encounter with the mercenary recently and found that was a little bit suspicious, because who would want to kill the royal family openly?
Later that night, Khaos informed Zuri that they were going to go back to River Creek pack the next morning.
However, she was surprised when she learned Lucas would come with them when she saw him this morning. He didn't look happy at all. His lips were busted and there was bruise on his neck, probably more under his clothes.
