Chapter 6
“WHAT? You and Summer’s dad crossed paths again?”Jessica and Qyla asked in a literal synchronous way when they all got together in the evening at the bar where she used to work.
“Do you really need to be in sync? Sure, say it louder,” she answered the two sarcastically.
The two girls in front of her looked at each other, and when they returned their looks at her, they both laughed.
“Sorry, we’re just surprised,” Qyla said as she filled her glass with a light alcoholic drink.
Jessica shrugged and did the same thing. She even offered her a drink, which she declined.
“You know, I don’t drink. I told my mother that I’d be home at 10 o’clock. I need to go home before the clock strikes ten. Summer will look for me,” she said, and took a sip of the soda she was enjoying at their table.
Qyla nodded and tapped her shoulders while Jessica smiled at her.
“Why?” she asked the two.
“Having a child really matures a person, Sis,” Jessica answered. “You have matured a lot. It seems like yesterday when we were in high school and you kept saying that you wouldn’t be doing your homework and you’d just simply imitate our top student.”
“Crazy! Why do you have to remind me of that?” Lyzza laughed.
“But, going back to the ‘mysterious stranger’ who’s the father of our godchild.” She even did the apostrophe sign in the air using her hand when she said the word, “mysterious stranger”. “Why did you guys meet? Where and how? And what’s your reaction and his reaction?”
“One question at a time, please,” she complained.
She just laughed and leaned her back against the couch. They were in one of the VIP rooms located on the 2nd floor of the bar. The place was quiet compared to the 1st floor of the building, where the dance floor was open to everybody who wanted to dance.
As usual, even though it was just half-past eight in the evening, the bar was crowded with customers already. It was filled with teenagers that didn’t seem to be minors at this point in time and students who wanted to have fun for the meantime.
“He is the owner of Vesarius Airlines,” she started.
The two stopped themselves from leaning in their seats as if they had heard exceedingly exciting news.
“Wait,” said Jessica, who stared at the ceiling as if she was trying to remember something. “You said Gideon was his name, right?”
She nodded. Maybe she knew him.
“So you mean, Gideon Vesarius is Summer’s father?” she asked, her eyes wide open.
She nodded reluctantly while trying to figure out the two girls who looked like they were about to jump at her from their seats.
“You know him?”
She shook her head, but her wide smile still remained on her lips. “Not really, but I have met him already. He’s Ali’s best friend,” she responded. The Ali Jessica was referring to was her older sibling’s so-called ‘friend’.
“Friend, that guy is drop-dead gorgeous too, like Ali. If only my instincts didn’t say that my sister is just being in-denial when it comes to her feelings, oh my! I could’ve stolen him a long time ago.”
Lyzza frowned because of Jessica’s dreamy expression. It was pretty obvious that she had a crush on that Alejandro Almeradez guy.
“Going back,” she continued. “You’re already aware that I want to do my on-the-job training at Vesarius Airlines, right? It will significantly impact my resume, and a bright future awaits the people who get accepted there.”
