Chapter 13
As the glass grew closer, Cynthia remained unnerved. She gazed sorrowfully at the malevolence in her half–sister’s eyes, thinking, ‘Is this the familial love I’ve yearned for over the past decade? It seems that it’s better lost than found.
Suddenly, Cynthia let go of her reservations. Since they stooped so low, she no longer needed to hide her true self.
Did they think she was weak? She remembered the days when her grandfather passed away, leaving her desolate and on the brink of starvation in the countryside, until her master picked her up. From there, she accompanied her master to the frontiers, where to toughen her up, he left her in the most chaotic areas. These lawless places honed her into a formidable force, her combat skills unparalleled by ordinary people, and exposed her to the darkest comers of the human soul.
It was a place where bad took on a meaning others couldn’t even fathom–where one slip could cost one’s life. It was also there that Cynthia met Delilah Garten, the “Poison Doctor” shunned by all nations, and under her wing, she learned medical skills that could both take a life and save one. Only Roseanne could see the change in Cynthia’s expression, and for a moment, her heart seemed to stop.
Then Cynthia spun gracefully, easily breaking free from the grasp of the attackers. Before Roseanne knew it, Cynthia had snatched the forcefully pinched Roseanne’s jaw, causing pain that made her scream out as the juice was poured down her throat. The excess juice trickled down
cup and the corner of her mouth onto her clothes, leaving her in a pathetic state.
Cynthia tossed the empty cup onto the floor in front of Mason, shattering it to pieces, the fragments scattering everywhere. “Now, you can have her bath and send her 10 Mr. Roberts‘ bed, she said coolly.
Everyone was shocked by the strength of the seemingly fragile Cynthia
Felicia, the first to react, ignored the glass shards and hurried to embrace Roseanne with aching concern
The substance in the cup was Felicia’s doing, calculated to make Cynthia submissive. Only she knew the dose–reckless of any concem for the body’s tolerance. A few sips would render medical help useless unless one was already in a hospital
Trembling with fear, Felicia watched as Roseanne’s face turned a shade redder and glared furiously at Cynthia, hissing. “You wretch, how dare you harm your sister like this?”
Cynthia spread her hands with an innocent look and retorted, “How could I be the one to harm her? W
Wasn’t it you who poured the juice!”
Out of concern for Roseanne, Felicia dropped all pretense of kindness and blurted out, “Bitch, if anything happens to Rosie, I won’t let you off.” “Nothing will happen, Cynthia replied with a faux naive expression, imitating the mother–daughter duo’s previous manner. “Just send her to Mr. Roberts‘ bed. It’ll quench her thirst and help the company secure funding. It’s killing two birds with one stone. Only then did Cynthia muse that acting the innocent might have its benefits, as it seemed to infuriate people effortlessly.
Lying on the floor, Roseanne started to tug at her clothes, looking utterly unbecoming
The entire villa was thrown into chaos because of Roseanne. Cynthia stood with folded arms, watching the drama unfold leisurely
Mason was also panicked. Roseanne was the daughter he had meticulously groomed for marriage into the Sullivan family. This incident could not be allowed to ruin those plans.

Of all the terrible translations this is by far the worst. Garbled rubbish with different languages in between. I wouldn't recommend this novel!...
