“You haven’t eaten in a while, so I’ve got some easy-to-digest foods for you, and there’s a slice of cake too, but you can have it only after you finish your meal,” Connor said.

Camila nodded with a smile and forked a piece of sweet potato into his bowl. “You should eat too. Don’t just fuss over me.”

“I’m eating.” Connor’s smile widened as he took a bite of the sweet potato. Why had he never noticed how delicious sweet potatoes were before?

After finishing their breakfast, Camila went to check on her mother.

At that moment, Cole arrived with a plastic bag that seemed slightly out of place in the upscale hospital setting.

Sheepishly, he began, “Cami, I brought you some bagels and milk...”

“It’s my favorite, bagels with milk. Thanks, Cole, but I just had a full meal. I’ll eat it later,” Camila gratefully accepted and said with a smile.

“No worries. I was just concerned you might not have eaten,” Cole replied.

“How could I not eat it? I’ll devour it in a bit,” Camila chuckled.

Cole looked at Camila with affection in his eyes. “I just hope you’ll like it.”

When it was time for rounds, Dr. Tom and a few doctors dressed in sterile attire entered Claire’s room to examine her. Camila and the others watched nervously from outside.

Connor gently held her hand, assuring her, “With Dr. Tom here, there’s nothing to worry about.”

“Yesterday, Craig did some research on this doctor for me. He’s really remarkable, capable of tackling complicated cases. Claire will be safe,” Cole asserted confidently.
