A Promising Youth novel Chapter 39

When I returned to the workshop in the afternoon, I had made some arrangements with the garment production. Then I went straight to the school.

Clara was right. The principal put the future of the school on me, I can't let them down. More importantly, this was my best chance to contact Brian and explore the clues of the Master’s case!

As for Clara, it was all up to fate!

If she really had done something with Marcel that shouldn't have happened and was got caught, it would only be her fault!

I'd helped her, I'd tried, and I'd repaid her favor to me.

“Teacher, are we corny?”

A little shy and timid girl in the rehearsal room asked me.

“No, you look beautiful, everyone is beautiful.”

I smiled at the children, looking at their outdated clothes, thin faces and unkempt hair, which was like seeing myself as I once was.

Once, I was as poor as they were. I was confident and even had to face violence from my family, but now I understood that nothing was set in stone. If you worked hard and fought with reality, one day we would live the way we liked.

The girl said,

“Teacher, I'm afraid!”

“Afraid of what?” I asked.

“I'm afraid we won't be able to win this competition.”

She said with her head down, sadly.

“Don't be afraid. You are still young and there will be endless possibilities in the future, so you must be hopeful that tomorrow will be better!”

I auditioned the kids one by one that day and divided them into three groups - bass, alto and soprano.

The children were talented singers, but they didn't have the musical background, so I could only teach them patiently.

Clara left from home early the next morning, and when she left, she didn't even tell me.

I went to the factory in the morning, and stayed at the school in the afternoons and evenings.

It was only on the second day of Clara's business trip that the factory suddenly got busy, it was trying to produce a batch of work uniforms.

I approached the head of production and asked.

“What's going on here? Whose work clothes?”

He handed me a cigarette and said.

“You don't know? Miss Clara has a big order to make uniforms for Fengjiang Industry. It's a big factory, and they want more than 2,000 pieces at a time! This batch of work will make our factory rich.”

“Has the contract been signed? Did they pay advance payment?”

I continued.

“Sure, Clara has at least been the chairman for a few years, how could she neglect this?”

It was true that Clara would go through the formalities, but I didn't expect that she'd end up letting someone cheat her!

And the person who cheated her was Marcel!

For three days in a row, although I was busy, I worried about her, afraid that Marcel that bastard would do something to her!

And another difficulty was about the kids in the chorus class, who all sang well and learnt fast, but were nervous!

They sang well in the rehearsal room, but once they got to school and performed for everyone, they were nervous and made all kinds of mistakes.

I was angry at them and it made the kids cry!

Then I thought I was wrong.

Tension could not be changed overnight.

It came from growing up, from an inner inferiority complex, from a lack of experience. Didn't I used to be too nervous to speak when I was in a crowded place?

Later I apologized to the kids and bought them lollipops.

I looked at them and asked with a smile.

“Who would you most like to sing to after you learn to sing?”

Those children replied almost in unison.

“Mom and Dad!”
