Chapter 789 “Tim must have gone for Shawn behind my back!”
Sage furrowed her brows tightly. “He’s always like this. He never takes me along with him. What’s the point of making me train all day long! It’s not useful at all!” Sage was very annoyed. Yale looked at Sage after he drank a few sips of water. He knew Sage was frustrated. He pressed his lips and comforted her, “Tim always has reasons behind his action. He’s making you train daily as a precaution. Your main priority is to keep yourself safe.” “He always treats me like a kid, but I’m not a kid anymore.” Sage’s face turned serious. “If one after another has to sacrifice for me, what’s my use? How can I watch my loved ones leave me one after another? If I’m unable to do anything, then what’s the meaning of my existence?” Yale looked at her with firm eyes. “I never wanted to be an overly protected girl at home. That’s not me.”
Sage looked up and met Yale’s gaze. “I’d rather be a wild rose. At least a wild rose is thorny enough to survive the frost and bugs.”
Yale focused his gaze on her. When he first knew Sage, he thought she was a smart, delicate, but stubborn little girl who grew up pampered in her parents and brothers’ love.
In the past six months, he gradually got to know her better. He could see the indomitable spirit and heartbroken heart hidden under her seemingly strong appearance. She had never avoided her destined setback. She might not be able to let go of her past, but she had never stopped moving forward. Soon, it was already the end of March. Sage was still busy with her daily work and tough training schedule. Tim’s whereabouts were still unknown. Even Kane had disappeared. With that, Sage became more and more annoyed.
She could not track her brothers at all. The two of them disappeared without a trace.
Laura was equally angry too. When she returned to work, she occasionally called Sage to ask about Kane’s whereabouts. She was so angry every time she called and cursed again and again.
“This d*mned son! I’ll beat the h*ll out of him when he gets back!”
When Kane left, he only told Laura this, “Honey, I’m leaving to do something. Don’t worry about me.” After that, there was no trace of him. Whenever Laura called, Kane’s number remained unreachable. Sage was very worried too, but she had to reassure Laura. Laura was on a mission and must not be distracted by these issues.
“Don’t worry. Kane is definitely with Tim. He’ll be fine with him. They’ll be fine.” Sage was comforting Laura as much as she was comforting herself.
Sage questioned Ross, Seth, Nigel, and Luther. However, all of them seemed to be in the dark too. Before she had any news from Tim and Kane, Sage got into trouble first.
On the day the trouble struck her, she was working in Norah Group as usual. While she was discussing the next quarter’s project with Finn and Hunter, Louis barged into her office. “Miss Sage, bad news! Our company got attacked. Y…your photos…” Louis said halfway but did not know how to continue. “Photos? What photos?” Hunter was very puzzled. He unlocked his silenced phone and saw a set of photos in his work email. He stiffened, and his hand trembled. His phone almost fell from his hand. Hunter immediately ordered Louis, “Get the tech team to work on it! Delete all the photos!” “I’m on it!”
Hunter was just about to turn off his phone screen. However, Sage immediately snatched it
over and saw the photos. When she saw them, she froze. All the horrible and disgusting, distant memories resurfaced in her mind.
The next moment, the phone flew out of her hand and hit the wall. The phone’s display broke into pieces!
