Sophie was already standing unsteadily, so she lost her balance and fell to the ground. As she looked up, her face was stained with tears.
Her heartbroken appearance made Benson frown.
He instinctively reached out to help her up when he suddenly recalled how Sierra had gotten angry at him because of Sophie before, which ultimately led to their breakup.
If he wanted to win Sierra back, he couldn't allow himself to get entangled with Sophie again. Hence, he quickly retracted his outstretched hand, leaving Sophie grasping at thin air.
From a distance, Sierra watched them and almost burst out into laughter.
What were they doing? Were they putting on some kind of comedy show?
A second ago, Sophie was smug, thinking she could still manipulate Benson. The next second, she was slapped back into reality.
Her expression froze, and her outstretched hand hung awkwardly in the air.
"Cee has never hit or cursed anyone," Benson mentioned seriously. "If she hit you, then you must have done something wrong. She isn't someone who causes trouble for no reason."
Even Sierra, who had just been watching them for fun, was momentarily stunned by his unwavering trust in her.
Memories of their past flashed in her mind. She then remembered how Benson had once chased after her, forcing her to apologize to Sophie. Now, seeing his absolute faith in her, she found it all ironic.
Such late affection and trust were useless to her as she didn't want it.
Sophie quickly regained her composure and forced a bitter smile. With sorrow, she asked, "You used to treat me so well, but you won't even help me up now. Benson, how did we end up like this?"
Looking worried, Benson insisted, "There's nothing between us anymore, and we're just strangers. Stop looking for me. That's enough. You should hurry up and leave. I'm afraid Cee would misunderstand if she sees you here."
Seeing that he was about to leave, she dropped the pitiful act and scrambled to her feet, rushing after him. "Benson, don't go!"
She had barely taken two steps before he yanked his arm away from her grip.
His handsome face was filled with irritation as he coldly warned, "The person I love is Cee. If you keep clinging to me, don’t blame me for being ruthless.
"From now on, don't appear in front of me or Cee again. I don’t want her to be reminded of the past."
