Theo grabbed Sierra's hand and quietly buttoned his shirt. He acted as if nothing had happened, continuing, "William had raised Xavier for many years. It would be folly to assume that he didn't actually love his own son, even if it's just a little.
"Xavier chose your side now because he was disheartened. Eventually, William will be in a good mood and treat him better.
"No one can guarantee that he won't go soft on his dad and become an obedient son once more."
Analyzing the situation calmly, Theo explained patiently, "It's safest to have power and destiny securely in your own hands."
Sierra sat on his lap and lowered her head in deep contemplation. Instead of disrupting her, he turned his gaze to her proposal and casually amended a few unsuitable areas.
"William doesn't think of me as his daughter. He might not want to surrender Shaw Corporation to me." She suddenly spoke up, her voice sounding dejected.
Theo glanced at her with heartache, his voice deep and firm. "It doesn't matter what he thinks. You have a claim to the Shaw family's properties."
Sierra's grandfather, Deckard Shaw, founded Shaw Corporation. William was nothing more than a poor excuse of a son who siphoned the profit his father had amassed.
He had no right to denounce Sierra, whom Deckard loved with all his heart.
As a matter of fact, Sierra wanted nothing more to do with the Shaw family. She'd much rather stay far away from William. Better yet, she didn't want to see him again for the rest of her life, if she could help it.
With that said, she would gladly resort to schemes and ruses if it meant saving Vera. She would have the Shaw family under her control. She was aware that Theo was right, but it wasn't easy to get past the emotional hurdle.
Theo noticed how dispirited Sierra was, and he patted her gently. They leaned against each other. It took her a long time, but she convinced herself and pulled herself together.
"Grandpa poured his heart and soul into the Shaw family. As his granddaughter, I have just as much right to inherit the family properties as Xavier does, both emotionally and legally.
"After I take over Shaw Corporation, I will split the shares into two halves and give Xavier his portion when he's ready to run the company." Sierra laid out her plan as she wore a stern and serious expression.
This time, Theo didn't object to her idea. He handed the amended proposal to her, advising, "I will get someone to work with you guys when it's time."
