Chuckling bitterly, Sierra sighed and handed Xavier a piece of tissue. "William has always been the same man. It was just that Mom did a good job keeping you safe."
More importantly, William used to love Xavier to a certain extent, but that was no longer important.
Xavier's sobbing voice paused for a moment. Then, his tears streamed down even harder. Several minutes later, he wiped his tears, raised his head, and said in a serious tone, "Sierra, you have my back this time. I'll do anything you ask."
Looking at him, she leaned on her chair. "If you can't wait anymore, find a way to work in Shaw Corporation."
His mind raced, and he came up with an idea. "Alright. Wait for my good news."
…
Theo went back home at night. He found it strange when he realized Sierra was in the study instead of the piano room.
"Why didn't you practice today?" He stood behind her as he spoke. Then, he reached out and wrapped his arms around her. Seated on the chair, she had crossed her legs.
Sierra hurriedly shut her laptop, and her eyes were shifty. "What's up? The competition was over, and I felt a little tired. So, I want to unwind a little."
Theo's eyes flickered, but he didn't press her. Instead, he released her, walked over to the bookshelf, and took one of his books. "Did you have fun shopping this afternoon?"
With a nod, she slid down from his chair. "I guess."
Looking at the laptop in her arms, Theo walked over to his chair and took a seat. "Sierra, you have to tell me if you run into any trouble."
She was about to nod, but she caught herself and turned around. She looked at him and pursed her lips. After a while, she mentioned softly, "I want to do certain things myself."
Theo wore a warm expression and responded tenderly, "Okay. All I ask is that you stay out of harm's way."
Sierra felt her nose stinging. Theo had shown her unconditional acceptance. She placed her laptop on the desk, walked over with pouting lips, and embraced him.
