Chapter 48 The Scheme 

Sierra hesitated but ultimately set the knife down, her decision swayed solely by Vera’s desperate, pleading eyes

Sierra replied coolly, “I have my own plans.” 

A sharp gleam flickered in William’s eyes, but he didn’t press further. 

Instead, he switched tactics. “It’s getting late. Why don’t you stay here tonight? Your mother hasn’t seen you in a long time. She’s missed you. 

Both Sierra and Vera were taken aback. Siema frowned, william had never allowed her to stay at the Shaw residence. In fact, the grand villa didn’t even have a room set aside for her. This was the first time he’d openly invited her to stay. 

Something was definitely off. 

She was about to refuse when Vera delightfully grasped her am. “Sierra, please stay tonight. I really haven’t seen you in so long.” 

The joy and maternal love in Vera’s eyes made Sierra’s heart soften. She nodded in agreement. It was only for one night, after all. 

Deep down, Siena longed for Vera’s affection. She was the only one who truly cared for her in this house. 

Williams had someone clear out a room for Sierra to stay in. 

Later that evening, Vera was carrying a cup of hot milk, ready to bring it to Sierra, when William stopped her. He dropped two white pills into the cup. Vera was taken aback, “William, what did you put in there?” 

“Keep your voice down!” William snapped, glaring at her. He whispered, “It’s just two sleeping pills. They won’t harm her.” 

Vera was bewildered. “William, why are you giving Sierra sleeping pills?” 

William leaned in, whispering a few words in her ear. 

Upon hearing his plan, Vera’s face drained of color, and she shook her head. “No, this won’t work. If Sierra finds out, she’ll be furious.” “she’s devoted to you. You’re her mother. Even if she finds out, she won’t be angry with you, “William whispered. 

Vera still hesitated. She said quietly, “William, Sierra already said she’d apologize to Benson.” 

“If she’s truly willing, then I’m helping her. Just do as I say,” William insisted. 

“But…” Vera tried to speak again, but William cut her off coldly. 

“Are you going to listen to me, or do you want to watch our company go bankrupt and see Xavier suffer?” he threatened in a low voice. Vera bit her lip and, in the end, lowered her head in defeat. 

“Hurry up. Don’t let her figure it out,” William urged. 

Vera arrived outside Sierra’s room and gently knocked on the door. The door opened, and Sierra smiled upon seeing Vera. 

“Mom.” 

“I’ve heated up a cup of milk for you” 

“Mom, come in.” Η 

Sierra took the milk from her and stepped aside to let vera in.
