Chapter 70 Outsiders Know Best
The left the hospital with a stem face, and Adrian followed closely behind, not daring to speak
Once in the car, he glanced at the emotionless man in the rearview mirror and cautiously asked, “Mr. Gray, where are we going now?
“Home,” The answered coldly.
“Yes,” Adrian immediately started the car and drove away.
The car’s air pressure was colder than the autumn breeze outside. He couldn’t help but shiver. It was only after he was unable to endure the tension anymore that he spoke up. “Mr. Gray, are you angry with Ms. Shaw? Are you not planning to care for her anymore?”
“Who said so?” Theo shot a cold glance at him, and his body stiffened for a moment. He was ju
just asking, but the intensity of that gaze was overwhelming.
“Once she’s discharged, find someone to teach Xavier a lesson. No need to break his hands or feet, but make sure he stays in the hospital for a few days,” Theo spoke chillingly, his eyes glimmering with a flash of cold light.
“Yes,” Adrian quickly responded.
A few seconds later, he couldn’t help but speak again. “Mr. Gray, I think what Ms. Shaw said is understandable. After all, Xavier is her brother. She definitely couldn’t be so heartless. Besides, your words might scare Ms. Shaw and make her afraid of you.
Theo frowned and asked in a low voice, “Was I really that harsh?”
Adrian shook his head, “No, it’s not about being harsh. It’s just that the words you said were so cold and heartless. It’s normal for her to be scared,”
A faint light flickered in the depths of Theo’s eyes, and he couldn’t help feeling a trace of regret. He couldn’t control his anger after hearing that she was severely injured. “But she always acts distant with me. It is as if she’s afraid to be associated with me.”
He spoke in a low voice, and Adrian felt a sense of defeat from the usually cold and proud Mr. Gray
“I think Ms. Shaw’s behavior is actually normal,” he said softly.
The raised an eyebrow and coldly replied, “Go on.”
“Mr. Gray, think about it. Ms. Shaw’s ex–boyfriend is your nephew, and their breakup wasn’t on good terms. In this situation, it’s already good that Mr. Shaw is able to speak to you civilly. Besides, I think she doesn’t want to owe anyone anything.
“Even though you’re helping her in the name of Mr. Gray Senior, she can’t just accept it calmly. After all, everyone has their own private matters. She’s not from a decent family but has her own pride, and she doesn’t want to expose her family’s dirty laundry to outsiders.”
