A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 300

When news of that spread, Jeremy was kidnapped.

Melody and Cheryl happened to be passing by at the time. Melody was still very young then. She couldn't walk fast, and she wasn't familiar with the area either.

Thus, Cheryl had her stay there and keep watch while she ran back to ask for help.

They weren't too far away from their houses, but it was too quiet with barely anyone around.

Melody had been hiding in the shadows at first, but when she saw them about to shove a blindfolded Jeremy into a car, she instinctively ran out, wanting to stop them.

That was probably the bravest Melody had ever been in her life. She clamped her teeth down on one of the kidnapper's hands and refused to let go.

That was, until the kidnapper slapped her so hard that she went flying to the ground.

Everything after that was very chaotic. Melody only remembered that Cheryl had brought a lot of people over, and they soon took Jeremy and Cheryl away.

As for Melody, she had been dragged by the kidnappers to the other side, so no one noticed her at all.

By the time Cheryl found her, her face had swollen badly, and she had a high fever that lasted for many days.

As Melody lay on the couch, she found her throat feeling a little dry.

She rarely thought about these matters from the past. She had already buried them deep inside, but it seemed like Ophelia's mentioning Ivy had somehow triggered these memories for her.

Suddenly, sounds came from the entryway.

Jeremy had returned.

When he saw Melody, his eyebrows furrowed reflexively. "It's already past midnight. Why are you still awake?"

Melody clutched the glass in her hand as she answered, "I just woke up, and I was feeling a little thirsty."

Jeremy hummed in acknowledgement. Then, after a pause, he explained, "The man you saw at the hospital earlier, he and his mother came here specifically for Krystal.

"He didn't go through the outpatient clinic and came straight to our department, begging to be admitted. That wasn't protocol, so Krystal refused. That's why there was such a huge commotion."

Melody wasn't particularly concerned with Jeremy's explanation. She said casually, "Krystal really is quite famous now."

She even gave a small smile and pretended to tease, "Maybe you should be feeling a little nervous."
