Michael was momentarily speechless. 

Chloe had come with him to the banquet, but now she was nowhere to be found, and he was asking Cathy?

“I have searched around the venue and could not find her. When was the last time you saw her?” 

“The last time? Let me think… about half an hour ago, I saw her heading towards the restroom area, but I did not know what happened after that.” 

Cathy said and made up a story since no one could confirm whether she was telling the truth or not. 

“Michael, is not that important client from Paramount Airlines about to arrive? Chloe is something, how can she disappear at this critical moment? Grandpa warned her before, she does not care about the Shawn family and you at all!” 

Cathy said directly. 

“If today’s cooperation fails, it’ll all be Chloe’s fault. Michael, I hate to say it, but what help can someone like her really be to you?” Cathy continued, implying that anyone else at the banquet would be a better choice than Chloe. 

Michael pursed his lips tightly and said nothing. 

But his eyes showed his frustration.

“Hey, I heard that just now the daughter of the Moore family was locked in the second–floor cloakroom. She suddenly had a heart attack and a kind stranger rescued her, and she was just taken away in an ambulance through the back door.”

“Who was this kind–hearted person? Doing good deeds without leaving a name? If the Moore family finds out, they will surely reward generously.” 

Just then, nearby voices could be heard discussing. 

Michael and Cathy both listened to their words. 

Cathy stood to the side, her eyes flashing with a hint of panic. 

She thought, “Second floor? Dressing room? 

Is that the room she just locked Chloe in? 

Are there other people inside besides Chloe? 

If something really happens to that daughter of the Moore family, then would that mean…” 

The thought sent a shiver down her spine involuntarily.
