Chapter 159 You Should Bow Out
Michael’s hand sneaked under the table, reaching for Chloe’s.
She swiftly slapped it away, unimpressed.
He couldn’t even behave himself during a meal out!

Especially with his ex sitting right across, he seemed shameless, but it just made her feel sick.
The dishes arrived, all heavily topped with dried chili flakes, looking fiercely spicy.
Chloe’s eyes lit up; it had been ages since she had authentic local cuisine that looked this tasty.
She picked up a slice of steak and blissfully squinted her eyes.
It was the flavor she craved!
Michael watched her enjoy her meal, eating very little himself.
He wasn’t much of a spice enthusiast, but Chloe really enjoyed her relished meal; her cheeks puffed out adorably, and it was pretty much a delicious sight in itself.
Perhaps, he thought, a personal chef in the house wouldn’t be such a bad idea after all.

Quinn noticed Michael’s gaze.

His fist tightened at his side, and then he subtly lifted his eyelid.
“Chloe, I heard there’s a new local cuisine restaurant in Southside that’s supposed to be authentic.”
“Really?”
“Yeah.”
Chloe’s interest was piqued instantly. “Then let’s try it out next time! Let’s see how good it really is.”
“If you want to eat, I can just have the chef make it for you at home. No need to go out.”
Michael interjected, slightly annoyed.
Eating out meant waiting in line, but eating at home did not.
Money could simplify many things.
After saying this, he glanced at Quinn across the table. “Whatever you want to eat, I can find any chef for you.”
Chloe gave him a look. She wondered, “Was this man out of his mind? Lucy was still there, so why was he trying to be so nice to me?”
Everyone at the table except Chloe had lost their appetite.
Chapter
After dinner, Chloe said goodbye to Quinn first, planning to return to the Lotus Manor.
Lucy walked slowly behind them, her steps a bit unsteady.
Suddenly, she clutched her stomach and called out to Michael ahead.
“Michael, my stomach hurts terribly. I think it’s gastroenteritis. Could you take me to the hospital?”
Lucy pulled on Michael’s sleeve pitifully, her forehead constantly breaking out in sweat.
She didn’t seem to be faking it, and Michael glanced at Chloe, hesitating.
Chloe didn’t want to watch him play this sort of choosing game.
As Michael began to say, “She…”
With a slam, Chloe hopped into a taxi by the road, slamming the door shut behind her.
Rolling down the window, she spoke indifferently.
“Then you take her to the hospital. Make sure she gets checked thoroughly. It’s tough for Lucy alone here, with no relatives or friends. You stay with her at the hospital today? I’ll go back and talk to Grandpa!”
After speaking, she told the driver to drive.
