Madeline was speechless and complained in her heart. 

She thought, “Even before the Nelson family fell apart, Wendy had lived a decent life. 

Now that the Nelson family has collapsed, Chloe had managed to find an even more powerful family to marry into. 

I wondered how Chloe had managed to win over Michael.” 

“Chloe, are you and Michael truly in love? I heard that wealthy families often engage in arranged marriages for business reasons. There must be some hidden story behind why the Shawn family chose you. You should be careful!” 

Maya sat next to Chloe and said, “Mom, those rich people are known for their promiscuity. They keep up appearances at home while having affairs outside. Wives are often just for show.” 

She then turned to Chloe with a feigned realization. 

“Oh, Chloe, I hope you do not mind. I was just stating a fact. But maybe Michael is not like that.” 

Chloe looked out the window in silence. 

Upon arriving at the restaurant, the three of them went into a private room. Within three minutes, Michael arrived and still

“So, this is Michael? As expected, you are quite the gentleman. Please, have a seat here. The waiter will serve the food soon.” 

Madeline eagerly offered, pulling out a chair next to Maya. 

Chloe raised her eyebrows, seeing Madeline’s transparent

Michael glanced at the offered seat and softly declined. “No need for the trouble. Chloe is my wife; I will sit beside her.” 

Madeline was stunned for a moment, then said awkwardly, “Of 

course!” 

But after sitting down, Maya stood up with a glass of red wine. 

“Michael, we have never met before despite you and Chloe being married for so long. As the junior here, let me toast to you!” 

Michael frowned slightly, showing a hint of impatient, but for some reason, he did not express his annoyance. Instead, he took a symbolic sip of the wine. 

“Chloe, tell Michael what I just told you!”
