Chapter 42: Michael’s Fury
Lucy sighed softly, her lips pressing into a thin line.
“Alright, I’ll take the blame. My apologies to you and Cathy. Let’s all move on.”
She really knows how to see the bigger picture.
But it put Cathy in an awkward spot. She saw the looks from everyone around her, and her eyes turned red with anger.
She stomped her foot and dashed to the bathroom.

With the protagonist’s departure, the chaos naturally came to an end.
Chloe glanced at Lucy.
“Aren’t you worried Cathy might come after you later?”
Lucy’s eyes flickered before she smiled and said, “Chloe, I’m not quite sure what you mean.”
Seeing her reaction, Chloe didn’t bother saying more and just turned to leave.
As she passed the bathroom, she tilted her head for a quick glance.

She overheard Cathy cursing inside. With a raised eyebrow, she walked in.
Cathy whipped around, saw Chloe, and her anger flared even hotter.
“Chloe, enjoying yourself, huh? Bet you loved seeing me make a fool of myself out there.”

“Are you crazy?”
Chloe struggled, but she couldn’t budge.
The car sped off, and she shot Michael a fierce glare over her shoulder.

Chloe knew he meant Quinn. Now that she was in the car, she couldn’t be bothered to explain.

She leaned back in her chair, her voice icy, “Yeah, if you hadn’t dragged me into the car, I could’ve relaxed a bit longer.”
Her blatant provocation made Michael frown.
“Am I not enough for you?”
He moved closer to her in the cramped backseat, the space between them disappearing.
His gaze turned deadly and terrifying.
Chloe smirked, looking up at him, “Well, what can you do? You’re just not good enough.”
The biggest no–no for a man? Telling him he can’t.
