"Seriously, if Lucy was really the best in the industry, I could accept it. But she's not!"
Asher was clearly frustrated and unable to understand what Lucy had offered these clients.
"Let's wait until they show up."
Michael sat down, poured himself a cup of coffee, and took a sip—only to spit it out immediately.
It was awful!
By the time the clients arrived, half an hour had passed.
They took their seats across from Michael with no hint of remorse. "Mr. Shawn, did you call us over today to finally agree on having Lucy handle our project?"
Asher bristled at the question and was about to retort, but Michael restrained him with a hand on his arm.
Michael said, "I'm curious. Is this project being handled by Shawn Heavy Industries or Lucy?"
The clients looked taken aback. "Of course it's handled by Shawn Heavy Industries."
"In that case, why is Lucy so crucial? Do you not trust Shawn Heavy Industries' capabilities?"
Asher scoffed, saying, "We've been working together for years. This sudden move to terminate without a valid reason is simply unfair. We've always had a good relationship. Why the change now?"
The clients exchanged glances. "We've mentioned before that we're more comfortable with Lucy since we're familiar with her. It's not that we have an issue with Shawn Heavy Industries, Mr. Shawn. Please don't misunderstand."
They kept insisting they meant no offense, but their expressions told a different story.
Asher, who had mellowed considerably over the years, was tempted to punch them out of sheer frustration.
Michael's eyes narrowed. "In business, is it about relationships, or is it about profit?
"Shawn Heavy Industries has been a leader in the industry for years. Considering our long-standing partnership, our pricing has been quite reasonable. If you terminate the contract now, just the penalty for breach of contract is a substantial amount.
"Then there's the matter of whether you'll face discrimination in the industry, or even be blacklisted. Do you really think you can easily find a new partner just because of Lucy?"
Even without leveraging the influence of Paramount Airlines, Michael knew that upsetting him in the heavy industry sector wouldn't end well for them.
"I know you think that since Shawn Heavy Industries has lost several projects and might be in a tight spot, we'd be begging for a renewal. But don't forget, Shawn Heavy Industries is not short on money, and neither am I."
His declaration stunned the clients.
They knew he was telling the truth.
