Chloe pointed at her nose, her eyes still wide with surprise.
Although she hadn't had much contact with the Millers, she knew their influence overseas was comparable to the Shawns'.
And the international market was significantly more significant than the domestic one. If you were to compare strictly, the Millers might even be a step above the Shawns.
Marvin nodded. "At first, Aunt Amanda and I weren't sure either. We only confirmed it after the report came out. Amanda has already returned to the Millers to inform them, which is why she sent me to notify you."
Chloe recalled her reaction when she heard Amanda was looking for her sister.
The Millers' child had been missing for so many years, and they only started searching in recent years. Chloe wondered what if they had ulterior motives.
"The Millers... Could it be someone who's critically ill and needs a kidney transplant or something?
"Or maybe the Millers got into trouble and want to find someone to take the fall?"
Listening to Chloe's speculations, Marvin felt a bit helpless.
"No, no, it's not like that. They simply want to make it up to you. You must have suffered a lot all these years outside. Aunt Amanda also said you're innocent."
She was innocent, but who wasn't.
Even now, Chloe didn't understand how she could be a Miller.
"Well, I can't explain the details. It's better to wait for Amanda to tell you herself. She just told me she's already on a plane to Mamaica and should arrive tonight."
Michael, standing beside them, hadn't expected Chloe to be a Miller either.
The Millers and the Shawns used to be family friends, but their relationship faded after the Millers emigrated.
But it wasn't like he hadn't seen Admas in contact with the Millers before.
He'd even thought it was impressive how long they'd managed to keep up the relationship, but now... He wondered, "Could Grandpa have known all along that Chloe was a Miller?"
Michael sucked in a sharp breath, realizing that things might be more complicated than he'd thought.
When Maggie emerged from the hospital room, her expression was desolate, but both Michael and Chloe were used to it by now, and neither said a word.
Marvin, however, spoke up, "Hey, Aunt Chloe, since the baby is James', you guys are definitely getting married, right? The Millers won't let you be bullied."
His words were like salt in Maggie's wounds.
Tears welled up in her eyes uncontrollably.
Marvin, realizing his mistake, scratched the back of his head sheepishly.
That evening, after Amanda's flight landed, she arranged to meet Chloe at a restaurant.
Chloe had initially planned to go alone, but Michael insisted on accompanying her, claiming he was afraid of some Miller family plot.
He reminded her of the countless times she'd nearly been killed back in their home country.
His final blow was "Mamaica has legal gun ownership".
That did it. Chloe surrendered.
Having Michael as a free bodyguard might indeed offer some extra security.
Inside the restaurant, Amanda's gaze towards Chloe was so tender it was almost palpable.
She pushed the menu towards Chloe. "Take a look and order whatever you like. Don't hold back."
Chloe had always felt Amanda was a bit too enthusiastic towards her, and now it seemed her initial thoughts were spot on. Amanda had assumed from the beginning that she was her sister.
No wonder she was giving away houses and introducing her to business opportunities.
Chloe casually glanced over the menu and ordered some popular dishes that everyone could enjoy.
"Let's get some spicy steak," Michael suggested.
