Michael’s face darkened at her harsh words.

He called Ethan right away, putting it on speaker so Chloe could hear their conversation too. 

“Mr. Shawn, during your video call today, you accidentally played a voice message from Mrs. Shawn. Everyone at the office heard it, which caused the misunderstanding.” 

“Before the meeting, Ms. Campbell didn’t deny your relationship, so everyone assumed she was the other woman.” 

Michael was caught off guard. 

He never imagined he’d be the reason Lucy got misunderstood. 

He didn’t remember much from the meeting today, except for one thing: Chloe and Quinn’s photo. 

Seeing his face turn ashen, Chloe just laughed. 

“Mr. Shawn, you can’t blame me for this. It’s your actions that made people misunderstand Lucy, not mine.” 

Chloe thought, “Why should I clean up this mess he made? It’s his problem, not mine.” 

Michael had enough. He hung up the phone.

Chloe scoffed, “You got yourself into this mess. Handle it on your own.” 

“Everyone’s been chatting about it. Just clear things up, and you’re good.”

Michael pinched the bridge of his nose, feeling a bit exasperated. 

He wanted to clear things up, but if he was the only one explaining, it would just make his coworkers more convinced there was something going on between him and Lucy. 

Lucy is crucial to this project, so nothing can go wrong. 

Looks like Chloe’s the only one who can handle this. 

“Why should I? What’s in it for me if I help her explain?” 

Michael hated when she talked like that. 

They’re a married couple. Now, there’s a misunderstanding between them. Even if she gains nothing from it, she should step up and clear things up. 

“Are you really that shallow?” 

She wanted a divorce for the money, and now she’s after more benefits. 

Chloe didn’t bother denying it. She nodded and said, “Yeah, I’m that shallow. But I’ll make you a deal. Divorce me, and I’ll help

Michael was speechless, rage boiling inside him. 

“Do you really want to divorce me?” 

“It’s all up to you.”

“Fine, I agree to the divorce. Let’s file the papers at the courthouse tomorrow.” 

Michael was fuming, and that’s why he blurted out those words in the heat of the moment. 

He thought Chloe would at least show some regret. Instead, she smiled, walked to the living room drawer, and pulled out a stack of papers. 

“You can sign now.” 

He glanced down, and there it was in bold letters: Divorce Agreement. 

Turns out, she had already drafted a new divorce agreement, just waiting for his approval.
