After I left, the twin Alphas went crazy novel Chapter 7

This time, I didn’t look back. As soon as I got home, I packed my bags, called a taxi, and headed for the airport.

Just as I sat in the car, my phone rang. It was Nina. Her sweet voice came through the receiver, brimming with barely hidden pride.

“Sophie, I’m at Oscar and Axel’s house. Their parents are so nice to me,” she said. “They even showed me their family heirlooms and hinted that they might give them to me. What do you think that means…?”

I cut her off, my tone calm and clear. “I’m not interested in you or anything involving them. It has nothing to do with me.”

Nina paused for a moment, as if startled by my bluntness. Then, tears began to roll down her cheeks. She turned to Oscar and Axel, who had just entered the dining room. Her big, watery eyes silently pleaded for help.

The two men, unaware of the full story, saw her distressed expression and frowned deeply. Axel instinctively pulled her into his arms. “Sophie, Nina’s sensitive! Don’t be so harsh with her!”

Oscar added, “Sophie, your temper is really out of control. You need to work on that.”

With their comforting words, Nina began crying harder but this time, with a faint smile on her face.

Once Nina had been consoled, Oscar turned to me and started to explain. “Sophie, Nina is different from you. She grew up poor and had a hard life. I can’t help but want to take care of her.. just a little, that’s all.”

Axel chimed in, “Exactly. We only feel sorry for Nina. Besides, didn’t you used to treat her well? Why are you acting so jealous now?”

I stared at them blankly. “Why are you telling me this?”

They answered in unison, “Because you care!”

We had grown up together, the three of us. Our bond from childhood was unspoken but strong. One look, one word, and we could understand each other. How could they not sense my thoughts now?
