I pulled away from him gently, avoiding his question. “You should stop talking. Your wound will hurt more if you don’t rest.” 

Lorek’s eyes clouded, the spark fading as he murmured, “Hmm.” He leaned back, closing his eyes, but the slight furrow in his brow gave away the discomfort he was feeling. Despite the tough 

terior, the pain was undeniable. 

Of course, it hurts. Flesh and blood. How could it not? 

I stared at his face–so handsome, yet so full of burdens–and let out a long sigh. 

We finally reached the hospital. As soon as we arrived, Lorek was whisked into the emergency room. I stood outside, nerves rattling, pacing back and forth while the minutes dragged on. After what felt like an eternity, the doctor emerged. 

“Fortunately, no bones were broken,” the doctor informed me. “The bullet grazed his arm, causing a deep cut, but nothing more serious. He’ll need stitches and rest.” 

A wave of relief flooded through me. “Thank you, Doctor.” 

Half an hour later, Lorek was stitched up and wheeled into a ward to rest. I followed closely, watching as a nurse hooked him up to an IV drip, the clear liquid dripping steadily into his veins. 

I tried to lighten the mood. “You’ve had some pretty bad luck lately, getting hurt over and over again.” 

A lazy, almost playful smile tugged at the corners of his lips. “This is nothing new for me. My life’s always been like this–danger is normal. But you,” he said, his voice softening, “you’re my good luck charm. When you’re around, I’m fine. When you leave, things fall apart.” 

I raised an eyebrow. “We were together today, weren’t we? You still got shot.” 

He gave me a wry smile. “That’s because you haven’t truly forgiven me yet. You haven’t come back to 

me for real.”

I blinked in confusion. “What’s going on? Do you need me to leave?” 

His gaze softened slightly as he turned to me. “No. This involves you too. Stay here and wait. It won’t be long.” 

The tension in the room thickened, and I could feel my heart racing in anticipation of whatever was 

about to unfold. 

The sound of the door creaking open drew my attention, and Panther, tall and imposing, walked in, 

his aura of authority unmistakable. Behind him followed two warriors, the very same who had been 

assigned as my bodyguards. They entered with their heads lowered, their faces marred by various cuts and bruises, the remnants of some recent conflict. Upon seeing Lorek and me, they immediately knelt, bowing their heads in shame.
