Aggressive wife novel (Madeline and Noah) novel Chapter 461

CHAPTER 461 A SERIES OF ACCIDENTS

Madeline awoke from the racket outside the villa. She listened in with her eyes closed and picked out Bruno and Suzette's voices.

Sleep was now impossible.

"Don't bother with them. Get more sleep." Noah had his arms around her waist and refused to let her up.

They had security guards outside. Neither of them had to lift a finger.

"I want to go take a look." She pushed him away to get up. She heard Bruno yelling at the top of his lungs for help and wanted to know what was going on.

Bruno had been doing well for a while by helping her keep an eye on Miranda. Updates were constant. The information wasn't of much use but she saw the change in him.

Noah noticed how insistent she was about getting up and fondly lifted the quilt and helped dress her.

"You serve me well," Madeline said after she was dressed.

There was a glint in his eyes. "Will my wife reward me then?"

He brought their faces closer, indicating that he wanted his reward to be a kiss and that it wasn't a greedy request.

She pushed him away and laughed. "Keep trying."

"Sir," Wayne called from outside the door.

The eagerness in Noah's eyes was gone in a split second. He solemnly dressed before answering the door.

Wayne stood outside with his head bowed. "Mr. Grant is causing a fuss at the door…"

"You can't even handle a matter that simple? Do you want to get sent to the trenches so bad?" Noah's gaze was sharp. Wayne didn't need to look up to feel the threatening look leveled at him.

He wanted to protest so badly. "We can't touch him. He's still Mrs. Quincy's father. Men are like feral dogs. They bite no matter what you do."

There were several bite marks on his hand.

Madeline noticed deep imprints of teeth marks on his hand and pushed Noah aside. "Go get a vaccine for rabies."

Wayne was Noah's right hand. She wasn't going to bear the responsibility if something happened to him.

"Madeline! My daughter! Save me!" The moment Bruno caught sight of Madeline, he shoved the two security guards escorting him aside and lunged for her.

She frowned as someone stood in front of her.

Bruno stopped in his steps when greeted by Noah's cold gaze. He was afraid of his son-in-law and wouldn't try anything in his presence.

"State your business." Noah glared at him before turning to flash Madeline a smile and guiding her to the couch.

Bruno caught onto how he seemed to switch personalities at a flip of a coin and thought to himself, "Who cares how great you are? You're still a submissive dog to my daughter."

Madeline hated how Bruno referred to her as his daughter when he never saw her as such in over twenty years of her life. Every exchange was filled with cold stares, reprimands, and orders.

He had become a smooth talker ever since he had become bankrupt. It was unfortunate that she didn't care anymore.

"You have to save me, sweetheart. I've been plagued by bad luck after bad luck. Everywhere I go, disaster follows."

He lifted his sleeve to prove a point. "This is when I was cooking a few days ago. The oil in the frying pan caught on fire. I now have blisters from the incident."

He then lifted his pant legs. "I fell on flat ground the day before. My leg almost broke."

The more he spoke, the more afraid he became. He then tried to lift his T-shirt to elaborate further, only for Noah to kick him down.

"Okay. Okay. You don't want to see it. What's scariest was how while I was driving this morning, the truck in front of me suddenly stopped. I had five steel bars pierce right into my car. I almost got one of the beams skewered into my head."

He was covered in cold sweat but the couple remained unmoved. Their expression told him everything he needed to know. All they wanted to know was what he wanted. Neither of them cared little for the stories he was spinning up.

"I'm telling the truth. Why won't you believe me? I know I did you wrong, Maddie. But I've changed. I'll never be that person again so please save me."

Bruno looked frightened out of his wits and looked ready to kowtow.

Madeline noticed how he didn't seem to be lying and asked, "Have you offended anyone recently? Are you sure it's not someone retaliating against you?"

"No! I keep on the down low now."

"What about Suzette and her partner?" She raised a brow.

"I thought the same so I went to her place to beat both her and her adulterous husband up but she insisted it wasn't her. She had even run all the way here. Even the security guards couldn't drive her away. She insists on seeing you."

He said in an angered huff. He was thinking to himself how his daughter treated him far better than she did Suzette. How crazy was that woman to go to Madeline to demand answers?

Madeline and Noah shared a look. The matter didn't sound as simple as they thought.

Suzette was acting like a dog on a trail. She wasn't here to criticize her but to know what was happening.

"Sweetheart, look at me. You can't leave me to fend for myself. I'm your father." Bruno tried to get close to Madeline to show her his injuries again only for Noah to once again kick him away.

"Enough. We'll get you a shaman." Madeline walked out with Bruno trailing after her. She felt safe to be around.

The moment she set foot outside, however, a flower pot came crashing from the sky. If it weren't for Noah, it would've hit her squarely on the head.

Noah had her cradled in his arms. She was confused but quickly pulled him back into the living room.

"Are you alright?" She pulled off his coat and shirt and was relieved to find a small bruise where the object had fallen on him.

Noah saw how worried she looked to have so haphazardly stripped him. He barely registered the pain and was smirking at her.

Her anxiety bled out of her to see how carefree he was acting. She nudged at his nose and tossed his clothes back at him. "Idiot."

Bruno parroted her, "Idiot."

Noah said nothing. He simply got dressed and got up to escort Bruno to a guest room. He wanted to take a closer look at the man's injuries and ask him what was going on.

Wayne had gone up to the third floor to investigate and reported, "Surveillance shows that no one has been on the roof. There was no tampering involved. It looks like an accident."
