Alpha Twins And Their Hybrid Mate novel Chapter 24

When I woke up I didn’t recognise where I was. At least, not until Wendy leaned over me.

“What happened?” I asked, trying to sit up but she stopped me. I looked around the room and as more things started to come into focus I realized that I was in Wendy’s bedroom.

Confused and dazed I saw the tears rolling down Wendy’s face.

“You fainted at work. I didn’t know what was wrong with you.” She said.

“How did I end up here?” I asked as I heard someone else walking into the room.

“I brought you here. I saw you pass out and brought you to my house.” She said.

“How is she?” Wendy’s mother Darcy asked.

“She just woke up.” Wendy said, not leaving my side.

“You gave us quite a scare.” Darcy said.

“I’m so sorry.” I said, feeling so guilty for making them worry about me. I hated putting people out like this. I know that there’s a lot more important things that they should be doing than dealing with me.

“Don’t you dare apologize. It wasn’t your fault. Not after what the doctor said.” Darcy said.

“There was a doctor here?” I asked, confused.

“He came to house. He said that you were malnurished and that’s what caused you to faint. He estimated that you hadn’t eaten in a few days at least.” Wendy explained.

I felt like I wanted to die right now. They called a doctor because they were so worried about me and now they knew a lot more than I ever wanted them to. I don’t want them to worry about me like this.

“Honey, why aren’t you eating?” Darcy asked. And I tried to sit up again while I was shaking my head. I couldn’t do this. I couldn’t tell them what was going on.

“You’re not going anywhere. It’s your parents, isn’t it?” Wendy asked. And I looked at her with horror on my face.

I started to feel the tears prick at my eyes and as much as I tried to stop them, they started rolling down my face and I couldn’t do anything to stop them.

“It’s alright, sweetie. You don’t have to cry. You’re safe here.” Darcy said, walking around Wendy and hugging me.

“I didn’t want you to know.” I said, softly.

“I know honey. But if your working, why don’t you buy food with that money?” Darcy asked.

“Jack stole it. I had it hidden in my room and he stole it to buy beer.” I sobbed.

“He stole all of your money. And they won’t give you any food?” Wendy asked.

I shook my head no and she looked at her mother with a sort of fiery anger that I had never seen on her face before.

“Everything is going to be alright. I promise. And you are not going back to that house.” Darcy said.

“I have no where else to go.” I said, letting go of her.

“Yes, you do. You’re staying here.” She insisted.

I looked at her in stunned silence and I looked at Wendy who was smiling at me. I couldn’t believe that they were so easily willing to take me in and take care of me. No one has ever wanted to take care of me like this.

Was all this a dream? Was I still unconcious? None of this was making sense.

“Why are you being so nice to me?” I asked.

“Because we’re not like your parents. I don’t think anyone is. And your my best friend. You’re staying here.” Wendy said.

I started crying harder now. But for a completely different reason. And Wendy sat on the side of her bed and hugged me this time.

“I’m already making dinner. I’ll let you know when it’s ready.” Darcy said, leaving the room.

I saw her give Wendy a strange look, but I was pretty sure that it was just to make sure that I didn’t leave. She wanted to make sure that I wasn’t going to go home.

I had never experienced any sort of kindness like this before. And I wasn’t sure how long they were going to keep showing me this sort of kindness. So I figured that I had to get in there first.

“I promise Wendy, it’ll just be for a little while. Until I can save enough money again to get back to Seattle.” I said.

“Hey, don’t even worry about it. I mean it. You are staying here for as long as you want. And don’t worry about saving. When you get paid, I want you to go shopping and buy yourself something that you would never dream of buying yourself before. You work hard for that money. You deserve to spend it.” She said. And I looked down while nodding my head. “What’s wrong?” She asked.

“No one has ever been this nice to me before.” I said.

“Well, get used to it around here. Because we all love you and we aren’t going to treat you like a cash cow or a slave.” She said. And I chuckled.

“That actually sounds pretty good.” I said. “Does your dad know? Is he going to have a problem with this?” I asked, starting to feel my anxiety rising a little bit.
