Chapter 107: Brother’s Rage
Chapter 107: Brother’s Rage
(Lucas’s POV)
The rage inside me wasn’t just anger–it was agony and shame twisting together into
something unbearable. My wolf clawed at my skin, begging to be set free. Every thought
began and ended with Celeste, her shattered body, her blood, the silver burns. The memory of
her scent thick with pain didn’t leave me. It wouldn’t leave me.
How could I let this happen? How could I have been so blind?
The guards at Marcus’s hunting grounds barely had time to notice me before I was on them. Their scents were clear–unease and fear. Good. They should be afraid.
One of them, a tall wolf with silver streaks in his hair, stepped forward cautiously. “Future
Alpha Winters,” he began carefully, his voice shaking slightly, “this is private terr-”
“Move.” My growl was low, hard, full of my wolf’s rage. I stepped closer, making the air turn
heavier. My golden eyes burned, and I could feel the weight of my aura pressing on them. The wild energy of my Alpha blood made their wolves shift nervously.
The guard faltered but stood his ground. “His Royal Highness-”
“Don’t speak his name,” I snapped, my voice pure venom. The want–the need–to rip through
them flared sharper. My claws stretched, aching for action. “Get. Out. Of. My. Way.”
Another guard stepped beside him, his stance wide enough to block me further. “Future Alpha,
“this one said, his tone firmer, but he couldn’t hide the tremor underneath. “Please–this isn’t
the right way to—”
“Right way?” I barked a laugh, sharp and bitter. My wolf surged forward so fast that even I
could barely hold him back. “Was there a ‘right way‘ when he put her in chains? Was there?”
Their hesitation answered for them.
The tall one stepped back first, his shoulders slumping. The others followed after a moment
of silent communication, the tension in their forms clear. They didn’t argue. They didn’t stop
Each step closer to his chambers made me feel sicker. My blood boiled hotter.
The halls of Marcus’s hunting grounds were the definition of power built on cruelty–dark

walls, torches lined carefully, the cold air heavy with the stench of blood and silver. My fists
clenched tighter as I moved deeper.
The closer I got to his main chamber, the stronger the metallic tang of Celeste’s pain grew. It was inescapable, like it had seeped into the walls themselves. Every breath felt like swallowing shards of glass, but I didn’t stop.
I couldn’t stop.
The Royal Beta appeared down an adjoining corridor, his tall frame filling the space. His wolf stood ready, but I saw the unease hidden in his eyes. He was bracing himself. “Future Alpha,” he said, his voice calm yet edged with warning. “His Royal Highness has requested-”
“That you try to stop me?” I interrupted, my tone cold. My claws flexed without needing encouragement. “Move. Or find out what happens when an Alpha’s wolf decides not to listen.”
His aura shifted, rippling with conflict. As a royal beta, he should’ve been able to speak with more authority, but his hesitation showed me all I needed to know. Even someone as loyal as
him knew what Marcus had done.
The moments stretched unbearably long before he finally inclined his head in submission and
stepped aside.
“His Highness is awaiting your presence,” he muttered, his tone flat and unreadable.
I didn’t respond. My boots thundered against the stone floor as I continued forward. There was
nothing left inside me but determination and rage.
The door to Marcus’s chamber loomed ahead. It wasn’t much against the force inside me
now. Without hesitation, I shoved it open, the heavy wood slamming hard against the walls.
The sound echoed sharply, but Marcus didn’t even blink.
He was seated in one of those oversized chairs he favored, his legs crossed casually. A glass
of moon–blessed wine sat delicately in his hand, the light from the torches casting faint
shadows over his sharp, arrogant features.
His violet eyes gleamed the moment they met mine, and a slow, infuriatingly calm smile
spread across his face.
“Well,” he drawled lazily, leaning back slightly in his chair, “to what do I owe this delightfully
unexpected visit, Future Alpha?”
His tone was mocking, dripping with amusement.
Everything inside me snapped.

“YOU!” The roar tore from my throat, raw and vicious. My wolf screamed with me, relentless in his demands for action.
I lunged at him, claws extended, letting the storm inside me loose.
But Marcus’s guards moved quicker than I expected, a blur of movement blocking my path. My claws caught one of them square across the chest, the impact sending him crashing into the nearest wall. His body hit the stone with a loud thud, leaving a smear of blood as he slid down.
Marcus still hadn’t moved.
He didn’t flinch. He didn’t even seem concerned.
He simply raised his glass of wine to his lips, took a slow sip, and smiled wider.
“Temper, Lucas,” he chided, his tone calm, like he was talking to an unruly child. “Is this about
Little Moon?”
The words froze me in place.
Celeste.
He dared to call her that. He dared to use that name.
“You don’t get to say her name,” I growled, stalking closer, though my voice wavered under the sheer power of my anger. “You don’t deserve to speak her name.”
Marcus tilted his head, his expression equal parts amused and predatory. “Oh? And what
would you have me call her? Your sister?” He gave a soft, mocking laugh. “She seems far
more willing to listen to me than she ever did to you.”
The edges of my vision blurred with red as my claws extended fully again.
“I’ll kill you,” I hissed, my tone dark and uneven.
I lunged again, but this time, Marcus rose. His royal guard moved in to intervene, but Marcus
raised a hand, halting him with nothing more than a gesture.
“Stand down,” he ordered smoothly, his violet eyes never leaving mine. “This is between the
Future Alpha and myself, isn’t it?”
The guard hesitated before stepping back.
Marcus allowed me to approach this time, his calm arrogance making the room feel
suffocating. The tension between us was thick, the kind that only comes before violence
explodes.
