Chapter 13
CARLYLE’S POV
Dressed as a royal that I am, adorned in the regalia that suits both my Alpha status and my status of a refined businessman, I approached the borders of the Night Bliss Pack, Alpha Rex’s Pack. The fabric of my suit exuded authority with every deliberate step I took. Approaching the pack, one could almost feel the tension hanging in the air–a silent sense of rivalry between me and Alpha Rex from the moments of history that we shared history in both business and the wild.
As I stepped into their territory, the atmosphere crackled with an unspoken power struggle. Meeting the rival Alpha, our eyes spoke volumes, showing a history of clashes and power struggle.
Even my escort who were Gammas seemed to sense the charged atmosphere, standing alert as a silent acknowledgment of the respect and rivalry interwoven between us. In those moments, surrounded by the rival Alpha’s territory, every word and gesture carried the weight of our past battles, creating an atmosphere where the echoes of both business competition and primal instincts collided.
As I and my escorts stepped our legs into their borders, the vigilant sentinels of the Night Bliss Pack acknowledged our arrival, their eyes showing a mix of curiosity in between.
I didn’t bother saying a word to them when they asked about who I was. All I did was: raise my totem seal in front of their faces and I was let in with a respectful bow and ant apology. I was very popular in those times and it won’t be an understatement to say I rule the wolf world. Out there, I was always referred to as ‘Alpha of the Alphas
Inside the Night Bliss territory, toward Alpha Rex’s guest room, the pack’s surroundings reflected a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity. The pack’s air exuded an aura of strength, with sturdy wooden structures that nestled seamlessly into the natural landscape.
Colorful banners adorned with the Night Bliss pack’s emblem fluttered in the breeze. Wolves of various ages, their fur ranging in colours and lengths moved about with
purpose.
“You’re welcome to our pack, Alpha Carlyle.” A pack warden said to me, before leading me to my destination which was the place I would be meeting my target host.
“Thank you. It’s my honour being here with you,” I replied with a taunt smile.
Guided by the warder and another warder whom I considered to be his fellow, I followed their directions to Alpha Rex’s guest room. The air hummed with anticipation

as the young guards led me through the territory, and a subtle tension marked the path toward the heart of their pack.
As I walked toward the guest room, a young lady who looked to be in her early twenties unexpectedly crossed my path, colliding with me. She was wearing a transparent silky veil on her face, with the ends of the veil tied across, resting beautifully on her ears. Her eyes, veiled behind the gauzy material, met mine momentarily, a mix of surprise and e defiance.
“My apologies, young man. I didn’t notice you were there.” She was being apologetic.
“Watch your step next time,” I replied stoically, clearing my throat as I tried so much to look away from her.
“Well, you should also be more careful. I have the right of way. With the way you’re speaking, I feel you’re kind of arrogant towards me.” She was being defiant in a way.
“In a pack territory, the right of way is earned, not claimed. Be more mindful,” I said to her, heading forward without looking back.
I could tell that she was taken aback by the lack of apology from me and attempted to assert herself, but my gaze remained unwavering. After a ew stes away from the spot if collision with her, I took a moment to look back but she was gone, obviously angry. In my mind, I concluded that she should be one of those spoilt brats that were over pampered by their parents or guardians.
Upon getting to the guest room, the wardens left I and my escorts to ourselves.
“You can wait here, Alpha Carlyle. Our Alpha would be out to meet you soon.” They bowed slightly.
It didn’t take long before Alpha Rex made hist
presence.
“To what do I owe this visit, Alpha Carlyle?” His voice was resonant and unwavering, as it cut through the air as he addressed me. The familiarity in his tone hinted at a history of interactions, as his demeanour showed the unyielding strength that marked him as the leader of the pack. So far so good, he didn’t changed much since I saw him last.
“As usual, Alpha Rex, I’ll go straight to the point,” I replied, while he took his seat on a regal chair directly adjacent to mine.
“Hmmn, as usual. He mumbled.
“I’m here for an important issue which centers on the Canthrastras,” I began.
“The Canthrastras?” Alpha Rex’s response held an unmistakable surprise. His normally composed expression faltered for a moment, his brows furrowing as he struggled with

the unexpected nature of the topic I approached him with. The air changed with an unspoken tension, and Alpha Rex’s eyes which was usually steady, betrayed a subtle flicker of concern. It was so obvious that the mention of the Canthrastras had touched a nerve, stringing up a sensitive subject that caught him off guard: so unexpected.
