Chapter 94
AMELIA’S POV
“Fine! We’re mates! You don’t get to treat me like this.” I yelled at him in return.
As the words tumbled from my l*ps, I felt a surge of frustration and anger coursing through me. Donald’s dismissive attitude had pushed me to my limit, and I
couldn’t hold back any longer.
“Fine! We’re mates! You don’t get to treat me like this,” I yelled once again, my voice echoing off the walls of the narrow alleyway where we stood.

“You asked for it. Remember?” he shot back, his tone sharp with accusation. Immediately, I knew what it was he was referring to. My words the previous day.
I felt a pang of guilt wash over me at his words, a reminder of the deception that had brought us together in the first place. But there was no turning back now – we were bound by fate, whether we liked it or not.
For a moment, the air between us cr ackled with tension, our emotions hanging heavy in the stifling heat of the alley.
“I’m sorry,” I murmured, my voice soft with genuine remorse. I met his gaze with a pleading look, hoping that he would understand the depth of my feigned sincerity.
Donald paused, staring at me without a word and then, to my relief, he seemed to soften, a flicker of understanding crossing his features.
“It’s okay,” he replied, his voice gentler now. “I guess we both have some things to figure out.”
With those words, the tension between us seemed to dissipate, replaced by a tentative sense of camaraderie. And as we stood there in the dim light of the alley, I realized that perhaps there was hope for us yet. But it was only a dream. It would always be one.
Taking a deep breath, I squared my shoulders and extended my hand towards Donald.
“I’m Amelia,” I said, reintroducing myself to him.
Donald hesitated for a moment before reaching out to grasp my hand in his own.

“I’m Donald, the Beta of the Moon Shadow Pack.” he replied, returning my smile with a hint of warmth in his
eyes.
“I know that already.” I blurted unconsciously.
“How did you
know?”
“Yesterday, remember?” I offered a small smile.

And just like that, we began to talk at first tentatively, then with increasing ease as the conversation flowed between us. We exchanged basic introductions, sharing snippets of our lives and experiences as we slowly began to open up to each other.
As the minutes turned into hours, we found ourselves delving deeper into conversation, discussing our hopes, dreams.
“So, Donald,” I began, breaking the comfortable silence that had settled between us. “What does it feel like being a

my question, his features thoughtful as he considered his response.
“It’s… complicated,” he replied after a moment, his voice tinged with a hint of introspection.
“On one hand, there’s a sense of responsibility – not just for the pack, but for everyone around you. You have to make tough decisions, sometimes ones that not everyone will agree with.”
I nodded, understanding dawning in my eyes as I listened to his words.
科
“But on the other hand,” Donald continued, “there’s a sense of pride and honor that comes with the role. Knowing that you have the power to protect and lead your pack, to guide them through both the good times and the bad – it’s a feeling like no other.”
I couldn’t help but feel a sense of admiration for Donald as he spoke, his passion for his role as a Beta evident in every word he uttered.

“It sounds like a lot of pressure,” I commented, my voice soft with empathy.
Donald nodded, a rueful smile playing at the corners of his l*ps.
“It can be, at times,” he admitted. “But it’s also incredibly rewarding. Knowing that you’re making a difference, that you’re helping to shape the future of your pack – it’s worth every moment of doubt and uncertainty.”

“Doesn’t it feel tiring sometimes being in that position?” I interjected, hoping to steer the conversation towards my main objective of getting closer to him, my main purpose of approaching him in the first place.
Donald’s brow furrowed in confusion at my question.
“I don’t get you. In what way?” he asked curiously.
I took a deep breath, gathering my thoughts before continuing. I need to make sure he didn’t find any thing suspicious throughout my discussion with him.
“I mean, being a Beta – always standing in the shadow of the Alpha, never quite having the same level of authority or recognition,” I explained cautiously.

Donald’s expression softened at my words, a wistful smile playing at the corners of his l*ps.
“Ah, I see what you mean,” he replied, his voice gentle as he considered his response. “But you have to understand, Amelia, being a Beta isn’t about power or recognition. It’s about loyalty, trust, and brotherhood.”
I c ocked my head, intrigued by his perspective.
“Brotherhood?” I echoed, prompting him to elaborate.
Donald nodded, his eyes shining with sincerity.
“Yes, brotherhood,” he affirmed. “You see, the relationship between an Alpha and his Beta is unlike any other. We’re not just leaders and followers – we’re brothers, bound by a bond that goes beyond titles or ranks.”
As he spoke, I couldn’t help but feel a pang of curiosity about the dynamic between the Moon Shadow Alpha and my mate.
“But don’t you ever feel neglected?” I pressed, unable to shake the nagging doubt that lingered in the back of my mind. “Don’t you ever crave more the need for absolute power, the desire to take over?”
Donald chuckled softly at my question, shaking his head in amusement.
“Not at all, Amelia,” he replied, his tone laced with conviction. “You see, the Alpha and I may have different roles, but we share the same goals and aspirations. We work together as equals, each playing our part to ensure the safety and prosperity of our pack.”
His words struck a chord within me, resonating with a truth that I had never

considered before. In Donald, I saw not just a Beta, but a leader in his own right-a man who embodied the principles of loyalty, courage, and sacrifice.
And as our conversation continued, I found myself drawn deeper into his world, captivated by the strength of his convictions and the depth of his character.
Donald shared stories of his own experiences, from moments of triumph on the battlefield to the quiet moments of introspection that came with leadership.
And as I listened, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe for the man sitting beside me a man who carried the weight of his pack on his shoulders with grace and strength. In Donald, I saw not just an Alpha, but a leader, a protector, and a

Soon, I realized it was late. I needed to leave to report my duty.

“Yeah, we did.”
“But I never got to ask you anything really?”
“That would be some other time.” I whispered, all smiles.
“I doubt there’s going to be one.” He said sadly and I understood what he meant.
“How about we meet here same time tomorrow?”
“Maybe. I’ll see to it.” He replied with a nod. As I was about to leave, he stopped me with a question.
